Colt McCoy, QB: -1.8 passing

Breakdown: With the sun apparently setting on RGIII’s career in DC, the Redskins are hoping to get some positive performances out of Colt McCoy the rest of the year, and Sunday’s effort against the Colts was a decent start. Despite getting sacked six times and pressured a total of 20, he still managed to keep his composure as the hits started piling up. He definitely improved as the game went on, although he needs work moving in the pocket and avoiding sacks. He was surprisingly good against the blitz, completing 15-of-19 for 278 yards and three touchdowns.

Signature Play: Q2, 11:34 remaining. In one of the better scrambling efforts you’ll see this year, McCoy managed to break three separate tackles from Colts defenders before finding tight end Logan Paulsen for a touchdown.

Jordan Reed, TE: +3.0

Breakdown: Reed had his best output of the season, catching nine balls on 11 targets for 123 yards, including 70 yards-after-the-catch, good enough for a 113.3 QB Rating when throwing his way. He also forced two missed tackles on the day. If he can stay healthy, he can obviously be a huge contributor in the passing game.

David Amerson, CB: -5.0

Breakdown: This was a Keystone Cops-type performance from the Redskins’ secondary in general, as they had several completely blown coverages. If they weren’t letting receivers run wide open, they were taking bad angles to the ball carriers. Even so, Amerson was notable for his poor performance, completely losing his man on more than one occasion. In all, he allowed six receptions on seven targets for 183 yards and four touchdowns, after allowing only two touchdowns in the first 11 games.

Signature Stat: Quarterbacks have a QB Rating of 135.2 when throwing at Amerson, the highest among 70 ranked cornerbacks

Quarterbacks have a QB Rating of 135 against Amerson? The worst in the entire league?

What happened to that guy?

Jim Haslett and Raheem Morris

remember Chris Horton? #48...7th round pick?

He had that one amazing game and everyone thought we had found this gem/stud. Even nicknamed him Predator.

Skins fans have a way of taking players who have one great game and putting the expectations of Champ/Deion on them and hen get sorely disappointed when they dont live up to the hype.

Amerson was mediocre at best last year...he came on towards the end of the year but he was barely better than Rambo for a little while, too. But, honestly, without Hall, an aging Clark, and no depth at all we are going to continue to get exposed.

Yeah Bruce Allen can excuse himself, Haz and Morris. The Tampa three

Remember when draft experts said that we reached for Amerson and we as fans had to try and find reasons to convince ourselves that he was a justified selection at the spot we took him at in the draft?

Too many times, it seems as though we are making head scratching moves in the draft where we are selecting guys who either have injury concerns, or taking guys higher than they should be taken.

It all points back to the idea of us lacking true talent evaluators in the front office who are capable of finding excellent players.

I'm back and forth on the Signature Play being a great thing he did. I think I and all of Redskin Nation was yelling at him to throw it away. He somehow manages to avoid a few tackles and finds the only guy open on the field (on replay two other receivers would have been ineligible as they stepped out of bounds). It's a great play when it works, but it's also one we've all harped on RGIII to not try and do. If he had been sacked, the story would have been, he wasn't smart enough to get rid of it. But that's the way it works, at least in public it's the results of the play that matter most.

Overall, was happy enough with his effort.
