TCF Bank Stadium – Minneapolis

Game Notes: Washington Redskins at Minnesota Vikings

• The Washington Redskins fell to the Minnesota Vikings, 29-26, in front of an announced crowd of 52,252 people at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis on Sunday.
• Quarterback Robert Griffin III made his first start since Week 2 and completed 18-of-28 passes for 251 yards and one touchdown. He also added 24 rushing yards on seven carries.
• Wide receiver DeSean Jackson recorded a game-high 120 receiving yards on four receptions and caught one receiving touchdown.
• As of the conclusion of Sunday’s 1 p.m. games, Jackson leads the league with five 100-yard receiving games this season. He is the first member of the Redskins to record five 100-yard receiving games in the first nine games of a season since Pro Football Hall of Famer Bobby Mitchell in 1962.
• Jackson has recorded consecutive 100-yard receiving games for the second time this season and has now recorded four in a five-game span for the first time in his career.
• Jackson recorded receptions of 45 yards and 56 yards. They were his eighth and ninth 40-yard receptions of the season, the most in the NFL. His nine receptions of 40-plus yards this season are the most by a member of the Redskins since Santana Moss in 2005 (10).
• The 56-yard reception by Jackson in the third quarter was his fifth reception of 50 yards or more this season. He is the first member of the Redskins with five 50-yard receptions in a single season since Moss in 2005.
• Jackson averaged 30.0 yards per catch on four receptions, marking the third time in this season he has averaged at least 30 yards per reception with a minimum of three receptions. He entered the game responsible for two of the seven such previous games this season and entered as the only player in the league to accomplish the feat multiple times this season.
• Through nine games, the Redskins have nine pass plays of 50 yards or more, one shy of their full-season output from the 2012 season (10).
• In the third quarter, Jackson caught his fourth touchdown of the season on a 13-yard pass from Griffin III.
• The touchdown pass was Griffin III’s 37th of his career, his first of the season and his first since Week 14 last season.
• Running back Alfred Morris gained a season-high 92 yards on 19 carries and matched his season high with two rushing touchdowns.
• The multi-touchdown game was the fifth of Morris’ career and his second of the season, joining his two-touchdown effort vs. Jacksonville in Week 2.
• Morris scored his fifth rushing touchdown of the season on a 14-yard run in the second quarter. The rushing touchdown was the 25th of Morris’ career, tying him temporarily with Earnest Byner for seventh in team history.
• Morris later passed Byner for sole possession of seventh with his sixth rushing touchdown of the season and 26th rushing touchdown of his career on a two-yard fourth quarter touchdown run.
• Including a rushing touchdown at Dallas last week, Morris has recorded rushing touchdowns in consecutive games for the first time since Weeks 8-9 of the 2013 season.
• The Redskins rushed for 122 yards. The Redskins have now rushed for 100 yards or more in three consecutive games since rushing for 100-plus yards in 11 straight games from Weeks 2-13 last season.
• The Redskins converted an opening drive field goal for a third consecutive game when kicker Kai Forbath recorded a 36-yard field goal to cap a 13-play, 62-yard drive on the team’s opening possession.
• The 13-play drive was the Redskins’ longest scoring drive by number of plays this season, exceeding two 12-play scoring drives recorded by the team in Week 3 at Philadelphia.
• Forbath finished the game two-for-two on field goals, pushing his streak of consecutive made field goal attempts to 11.
• The Redskins forced a three-and-out on the Vikings’ opening drive. It represented the first opening drive three-and-out forced by the Redskins since Week 2 vs. Jacksonville.
• Linebacker Trent Murphy recorded his first career sack, dropping Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater for a nine-yard loss in the first quarter.
• In the second quarter, defensive end Jason Hatcher added his fourth sack of the season, the 31st of his career.
• Cornerback Bashaud Breeland notched two passes defensed and has compiled six passes defensed in the last two weeks, the most in the NFL in that time frame as of the completion of Sunday’s 1 p.m. games.
• Andre Roberts recorded a season-long 45-yard kickoff return in the third quarter. It was Roberts’ longest since a 47-yard return at Carolina on Dec. 19, 2010 as a member of the Arizona Cardinals.
• Running back Roy Helu, Jr. caught four passes, marking the third time this season he has caught at least four passes.
• Safety Phillip Thomas made his NFL debut.
• The Redskins and Vikings faced one another for a fifth consecutive season. This marks the third time since divisional realignment in 2002 that the Redskins have faced a non-divisional opponent in five consecutive seasons (Tampa Bay in 2003-07 and St. Louis 2008-12).
• The all-time series between the Redskins and Vikings is now tied at 12-12, including postseason play. The Redskins made their TCF Bank Stadium debut. The Redskins were 1-1 against the Vikings at Metropolitan Stadium and 4-2 against the Vikings at the Metrodome.
