Yeah, it was clearly roughing the passer, and the refs missed it. Gotta tell ya though ... we wouldn't have done anythign with the break. We couldn't even threaten to get a first down, much less march down the field, excute a FG, and hope to actually come up big in OT.
To me this one was lost with four straight nothing offensive series from the late 3rd quarter into the 4th, the last being the kind of game-deciding gift the defense gave the offense with Tryon's INT. Failing to get the TD there---failing to even ATTACK the D in that situation, essentially playing for the FG---sealed the deal.
The offense scores a TD there to go up by 12, and I like our chances. Up just by 8 was a monster lift to Philly, gave them a repreive, their energy back, and sapped the Redskins defense, which was pretty much a disaster after that.
This team and coaching staff do not seem to have any sense of The Moment ... no feel for momentum, for consolidating a lead, for being aggressive. They seem to have one speed. Unfortunately, good teams have a second gear ... as we saw from Philly, on both sides of the ball, then the lights were brightest and the game on the line.
