It was a tough week for NFL Pickem players in Week 1. For the week, Neophyte finished alone at the top with a 12-4 record, followed by SC_RedskinsFan at 11-5. Our two leaders were followed by a group of 6 - Canadian Hog, Toast20622, Jimbo, Boone, China, and Kaos - all finishing the week at 10-6.

Congrats to our top 7 this week

If anyone's results are not on the list, please PM me.

For those unfamiliar with scoring rules, season results include 'tie breaker points' (a total of your points for every 'tie breaker' game during the season). The first consideration for season ranking is total # of wins, with any ties being ranked from lowest # of tie-breaker points to highest # of tie breaker points).

Nice start Neo. You too SC.

Color me stunned. I was watching the results come in on Sunday just hoping to break .500.

So, are points the difference between the actual total score and what you projected as the total score for the 'tie breaker game'? I'm seeing some big numbers there like 193 and 281.

How do negative numbers play into this? would -1 and 1 have the same weight?

Tie-breaker scores are the total (aggregate) of all your estimated combined score for each game minus the actual combined scores for each game. It's cumulative as the season goes. The reason you see some huge numbers is because some players like to go ahead and either pick all the seasons games, or pick all favorites or home games for the season in case they forget to make picks one week. I am checking on the negative vs. positive question although clearly looking at the results it's better to have a negative number.

Here's the FAQ for this question from our vendor site:
FAQ: I don't understand the "Recap" report - what is the deal with the Season Points & Season Record and why does it sort by Points?
Answer: This question has been asked many times. Season points represent the aggregate points selected by each player for tie-breaker games less the aggregate points scored in tie-breaker games (for those using "combined score" for tie-breakers) otherwise it represents the aggregate combined margin for all tie-breaker games. Let's see an example:
Joe plays weeks 1,2 & 3. He picks 44 for week 1, 27 for week 2 and 35 for week 3. His aggregate for all tie breaker games picked would be 44+27+35 = 106. Let's say that week 1's tie breaker score was 21-10 = 31, week 2 = 14-31=44, week 3 = 9-6 = 15 .... so 31+44+15 = 90. 106 (Joe's aggregate) less 90 (points scored) = 16. If Joe's aggregate was 80, his season points would be -10 (or 10 pts away from perfect). This point factor is only used to determine ranking when win-loss-tie record is the same for 2 or more players.

Note: At the beginning of a week, before the games have been played, but after picks have been made, the aggregate of tie-breaker games picked will reflect a slightly higher (by the amount of the current weeks tie breaker points) number than when there is a score to offset.

8-8 my first time ever doing this. Not too shabby, not too shabby. :triumphant:

I'm confused by the sound of "multiple game scores" we were to predict. Were we supposed to predict point totals for each and every game ? I thought it was just the one selected game.
Or, when you said "total of all your estimated combined score for each game", is that plural only because it's looking at it from the perspective of "season totals", adding up the one game for each week that we predicted the score, thus coming up with multiple ?

Over the course of the season. The only game that the total applies to is the last game of the week. That adds up over the course of the season.

Well, the total tie-breaker points decides ties every week if folks have the same # of wins but yeah, ultimately it only 'matters' in the end if things are close. And no, there is only on tie breaker game each week you have to guess total combined score for.
