REDSKINS MAKE ROSTER MOVES

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins announced today that they have promoted linebacker Will Compton to their active roster from their practice squad. The team also signed free agent linebacker Adrian Robinson to its active roster and signed free agent tight end Gabe Miller to its practice squad. Terms of the deals were not disclosed. In addition, the team placed linebacker Nick Barnett on its Reserve/Injured list.

Compton (6-2, 230) originally signed with the Redskins as a college free agent on May 2, 2013. He was waived on Aug. 31 before signing to the team’s practice squad on Sept. 1.

Compton played collegiately at Nebraska, where he appeared in 50 games with 37 starts. He was a two-time All-Big Ten selection whose 247 career tackles rank 12th in school history.

Compton, 24, attended North County H.S. in Bonne Terre, Mo., where he received first-team all-state honors from the Missouri Sportswriters and Broadcasters Association as a senior. He was born on Sept. 19, 1989.

Compton will now wear No. 53.

Robinson (6-1, 250) originally signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers as a college free agent on April 30, 2012. He was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles on Aug. 23 of this season before being waived by the Eagles on Aug. 30. He was acquired off waivers by the Denver Broncos on Sept. 1 and was waived by the Broncos on Oct. 15. He signed with the San Diego Chargers on Nov. 12 and was released by San Diego on Dec. 7.

Robinson played collegiately at Temple, where he appeared in all 50 of the Owls’ games from 2008-11, starting 38. He earned 2011 first-team All-MAC honors as a senior in 2011 after starting all 13 games at defensive end, finishing fourth on the team with 52 tackles, including a team-best 13.5 tackles for loss, a team-high 6.5 sacks, an interception and a blocked kick.

Robinson, 24, attended Harrisburg (Pa.) H.S., where earned first-team all-state honors as a junior and senior. He was born on Nov. 21, 1989.

Miller (6-3, 257) was originally drafted as a linebacker by the Kansas City Chiefs in the fifth round (140th overall) of the 2011 NFL Draft. He was released by the Chiefs on Aug. 31, 2012 and had brief practice squad stints with the Seattle Seahawks and Chicago Bears before spending the 2013 offseason with the Bears. He was released by the Bears on Aug. 25, 2013.

Miller played collegiately at Oregon State, where he played in 47 contests with 24 starts, including 17 at defensive end. He started 12 games as a senior co-captain in 2010, earning honorable mention All-Pac-10 honors.

Miller, 26, attended Lake Oswego (Ore.) H.S., where he was named the 4A Defensive Player of the Year as a
linebacker and earned honorable mention accolades at tight end during his prep career.

Barnett (6-2, 228) appeared in 14 games with Washington this year.

Barnett never recovered from the knee injury in 2010 when he missed the Packers run to the Super Bowl.

He was a good player but wouldn't have been waived by GB if could still play.

I'm doing the math here, and 2 players (Compton and Robinson) were added to the main roster, while only 1 player (Barnett) was removed.

Who's the missing player, that was deducted from the main roster, to make room for both ?

If I recall, we went with 52 last week.
