so, the Redskins are now o'fer when it comes to the draft picks spent in 2008 on the offensive side of the ball.

Devin Thomas has delivered almost nothing.

Malcolm Kelly is a 'starter' but has the fewest receptions for a No. 2 receiver in the NFL.

Fred Davis is colorless, tasteless and odorless.

but no one got a shorter look than Chad Rinehart.

within 2 or 3 games it was decided that career tackle Mike Williams, he of the 350 pound body that hasn't been used in an NFL game since 2005, was a better bet.

I think we can call the front portion of the 2008 draft to be an unmitigated disaster for this team, leaving it short at a number of positions where Cerrato and the front office assumed these players selected would show up and be counted.

Now with NONE of these players stepping up Zorn is left with the odd pieces like Williams and Batiste to try and turn lemons into lemonade.

Well, it's not happening.

This is a 4 win team. 5 wins if you are really looking at things optimistically.

Well,
Rinehart was considered a 5th-7th round pick and the Skins take him in the third.

Thomas is a very, very raw player and if you had the right people around to develop him, maybe he could pan out.....with this team not happening

Kelly is technically in year one since he was injured most of 2008.

Don't ask me about Fred Davis, still shaking my head on that pick.

The point is, the Skins drafted poorly and should have used that 1st rounder to develop the O and D lines.......and maybe only draft 1 skill position player.

Even if he turned out to be an ok player the Davis pick was terrible. With a pro-bowler at the spot and a decebt backup like Yoder and serious needs on both lines that pick made no sense whatsoever. That it now looks like Davis has no place in this offense just adds insult to injury.

Agreed. That is why I seemingly get blown away with dismay and bewilderment every draft. It seems our drafting has no logical thinking behind it. We also tend to draft, ummm, alot of TEs and FBs. Every friggin year! God forbid we use a second rounder on, ummmm, maybe a OT or OG.

I;m telling you, there has to be some kind of aversion to drafting OLineman by Snyderrato.

well, the team finally drafted a DL in the first round since 1997 with Brian Orakpo :)

but then the genius braintrust decided he was better suited to be an outside linebacker and only play DE in long yard and third down 'packages'

how hard would it have been to sign a free agent linebacker who goes 245-250 and could play strongside for ONE season until a permanent replacement for Marcus Washington could be found?

did the team really have to stunt the growth of a player that is going to be a key performer here for the next 5-7 years?

this team's front office and coaching staff is right there with Cleveland, Buffalo, Oakland and Tampa.

all clubs that right now have NO idea what they are doing.
