Random Commanders Thoughts

Hey, I will have you know that at family reunions I was always the one that could throw the football through the tire from the furthest distance away

So you cut Bibbs but keep Perine, who hasn't done jack this year?

Makes sense......#Skinslogic

This gets any worse, the ‘Skins will be the Wizards...

Shout out to old friend Gregg Williams, who's now 4-2 since taking over the Browns.

I like Gregg Williams. He almost cost them that game last night though. Going for it on 4th and 1 when an easy FG puts you 4 points ahead and requires the other team to go the length of the field and score a TD with a minute to play - that's just dumb. Then he tries to draw them offsides and calls a last second tryout, negating an offsides penalty that wouldve ended the game. Yikes.

I know he was breathing a sigh of relief that those miscues on his part didn't cost them the chance at a playoff spot.

It's a reflection of how bad our offensive skill position talent is that people are freaking out over the release of Kapri Bibbs and poaching of Simmie Cobbs. Good teams wouldn't blink an eye over losing two guys who wouldn't see the field on almost any other team other than the Redskins.

I'm not saying neither guy can play. But Bibbs got zero interest the last time he was released. And Cobbs - while there are always shocking surprises, he was an UDFA - meaning not a single NFL team felt like he was worth even a 7th round draft pick.

I don't really understand our fixation with Perine or Marshall either, and I though Bibbs played well at times. But neither of these two 'losses' mean much in the grand scheme of things imho.

Goes to over all culture though, imo.

When you look at Perine, the staff doesn't trust him. Gruden doesn't want him on the field. So the only reason he could be here is because someone in the front office keeps him because they drafted him and they(whoever that may be) doesn't want to admit a mistake.

The idea should be to play the best, regardless of pay check, draft status or because someone drafted him and he's a favorite.

That has to change. Will it? Who knows.........

I wish Alex well but if he retires even though it might kill the team cap wise, it might in fact cause an entire rebuild, trade assets and eat it, hell I'd rather eat it for a few years then just hope we make the playoffs, end SO drinking early rant

Pretty much exactly what I said about the Caps about five years ago. I was satisfied missing the PALOFFS if it meant GMGM was gone (trading away Filip Forsberg for a ten-thumbed turtle was the last straw) and the FO was handled. The team obviously wasn't blown up, but now they have a Cup.

I don't have quite the same faith Snyder has what it takes to assemble even a competent FO, but this one is rotten from the head down.

So...wonder if Joe talks to any owners........

I don't get the love for Riddick. He's a very likeable guy. But he was in our scouting dept for 4 years and then was Director of Pro Personnel for us for 2 years. Performed both of those roles for Philadelphia after leaving the Skins. He was not elevated then. The Eagles did have 2 good seasons in 4 years while Riddick was in his position. But I just don't see him as being the answer. We've been more or less a wreck for 20 years, and Riddick was knee deep in the regimes during a pretty good stretch there.

Why would we believe he's the guy to fix it?

Well, let's go with what has long been the narrative here. Over the last 25 years, the narrative has always seemed to be:

There are some really smart folks in the personnel department but the Head Coach, current GM,President,VP etc....doesn't listen to their advice.

We are scraping the bottom of the barrel here. So maybe we should lower the bar in evaluating for the position with questions like:

Is he smarter than Vinny?

Is he more knowledgeable than Bruce football-wise?

Is he less of a jerk than Bruce?

I'd get rid of Bruce and promote Kyle Smith...fresh young blood....personally.

Say no to Riddick. He was here before and didn't seem to make an impact with Washington or afterwards.

I remenber he couldn't interview well enough to beat out Sashi Brown in Cleveland despite the fact Brown had no real NFL experience.

Boone, you are right that Bibbs wasn't going to be a core player for us going forward.

But he was a guy that gave 100% which we seem to be having a problem with on this roster at present.

Also as Diesel Power indicated why release Bibbs now with 3 games left just to keep Perine inactive each week?

That is sending the wrong message, namely that guys who are out there fighting and playing are worth less than guys sitting up in the stands healthy watching the games while eating nachos.

The interesting part is that Joey T is talking FO firings!

At least one team has Redskins senior VP Eric Schaffer "at the top of their list" for Pres./Football Ops. candidates, a source tells @Russellmania621. It would be a "death blow" to Dan Snyder if Schaffer left, the source says. https://t.co/Ih37s6fzPc
