Random Commanders Thoughts

I don't quite get that argument Brian. You're worried about the bad PR because Jay Gruden's 22-year-old son got into a fight while intoxicated, but you want us to sign Kareem Hunt?

You have to admit the logic there is a little wacky :)

And trust me guys, I'm really not on some crusade to salvage poor little Jack Gruden's reputation. I just think the attention this is getting is unbelievably ridiculous. And I'll say it again - I know you all did stupid things, no doubt equal to his stupid things when you were 22.

It's what young American males do, and in that regard he's upholding a grand tradition.

Nope, not worried about it, it's already there so we should have just taken the hit for Hunt. Why not? They are already bashing the Redskins for everything else.

The Gruden incident is just another in a long line.

As for the new league...it is not the XFL. Will it survive? It has an uphill battle, but it's not like any other league we've seen...not the XFL, and not even the USFL. If the NFL were smart, they'd talk to the creators if the AAF about a spring league for players on the bubble of making teams, giving scouts and players a bigger pool of talent to see in real time.
Good chance that the nfl has given the new league it's blessing, and fully intends to use it as a "farm system" for players. The fact that you can view highlights on their .com makes it pretty obvious.

Oh, and Gruden's kid? Much ado about nothing.

Now this is what I'm talking about. Boycott and get Snyder to move to another city, then bring in a real organization like the Chargers.

That's a billion dollar question. Right now I'd say DC in the only option, but that's not a simple answer. Could be St. Louis or London. Get ready for craziness.

What's the context of that tweet @McD5 ? Not clear what is being discussed). Snider is a good guy but is wrong more than he should be with as much Skins knowledge as he has.

Naw, just need to boycott Gruden and bring in a real coach.

Good evaluation. Coaching has been the main thing holding us back over the last 20 years.

Someone asked him where the next stadium is going to be. He believes Virginia and Maryland are now out.

Thanks. The revolving door at head coach has indeed been the biggest problem over the last 20. Actually 25+
The 2nd biggest problem has been sticking with 2 losers for too long.
They being Norv, the original, and the current Norv 2.0

Won't...ever...happen! Rick Snider is proving to be nothing more than a hack.

Someone asked him where the next stadium is going to be. He believes Virginia and Maryland are now out.

I asked the question and some basis for his assertion since less than 6 months ago Governor Hogan placed some policies into effect that would make it easier to bring the Redskins back to PG County, more specifically Oxon Hill Farms. Instead of clarifying, he chose to admonish me for questioning him. I wasn't "questioning him" I was asking the question since Hogan had taken steps to keep the Skins in Maryland...and he is the only one stating that Maryland is out.

This sounds like nothing more than trolling.

No one is going to believe that coaching, even Jim Zorn, has been a bigger problem than the people who hired him.

This guy is now trying to steal my idea from three months ago. It's the best solution.

I do like the results though. The fans have become smarter.

This is literally where we're at right now. It's an unofficial poll conducted on Twitter, but nearly 3/4 of the fans now want the team to leave town.

If a move were to happen that would be one helluva Sophie's choice scenario for me. Follow the team to wherever, follow the new team that (if) comes in, or just follow the lingerie league full time.

Don't you put that shit on me Ricky Bobby!

It would make my football life easier. I'd be able to leave the NFL as a fan and finally be rid of the up and downs we poor redskins fans are subject too. Mostly downs. :) I don't ever see it happening.

It is a foolish idea that will...never...happen! Snyder is from Maryland, he has lived here his whole life, he is never going to move the team out of the DC metro region, ever. Why is this even mentioned? It is foolish at best and @snide-remarks Snider bringing it up is even more reason to state he is a hack, simple click bait!

McD5, you have shared some doozies in the past, occasionally being on point, but this idea is about the most outlandish I think I've ever heard from you.

Here's the deal:

1) Due to revenue sharing, he will always make a profit. Wins and losses don't matter. He will never sell.

2) He has three kids. He'll never sell.

3) The only options left are if he either gets caught on tape saying something egregious and he's kicked out of the league, or in boycotting the team and forcing him to move to a place like St. Louis.

It's not a prediction. It's the only hope left.

It's the only hope left.

OK, I respect that greatly! I don't know what to hope for on this team anymore, I'm just tired of his inability to create something. I am serious when I say I won't watch a single game next year with Gruden and Allen returning. I just stick around here because I kinda like you guys...well, excerpt Ax...that guy is a grump! :very_drunk:

I'm not watching a single game next year if Bruce is still employed in any position.

Well then.

You only consider it trolling, McD, because I don't worship your anointed Savior, Norval Gruden.
I also don't buy the premise you, and many others, seem to embrace. That being, even if Darth Vader, and the Devil himself, hired a staff made up of Joe Gibbs, Vince Lombardi, Bill Walsh, Buddy Ryan, and the Cheater from New England, the team would not win. True, it can be fun to embrace the ridiculous. But it's still, ridiculous.

Additionally, considering the "Twitterverse" as anything other than a large gathering of malcontents, whose major goal in life is to bitch about whatever that day's bitch target is, is, hysterically delusional. But I do realize the theory of him moving the team is the only thing that would justify such a moronic assertion by the SniderClown. But in the end, it sounds like a bunch of today's snowflake/cupcakes going on about how socialism will save us all.

And El, you LOVE me. You know it, and I know it. So please, stop sending me the semi-nude photos of yourself.

Either take it ALL off, or put on a suit and tie. :victorious:

Couple things. No reason to hate on Snider. I agree he sometimes resorts to what I'd call lazy 'journalism' and frequently puts unlikely scenarios out there as legitimate 'possibilities'. This is absolutely one of those.

Snyder would never move or sell the team - if for no other reason than it would constitute failure and be an admission that his legion of critics have prevailed. It's not in his DNA to do that and that's just all there is to it. It's also a stupid thing to wish for. First of all, quite possible given attendance issues, lack of a long-term stadium solution, idiot DC policymakers, and the name controversy, that we don't get another team. Secondly, the new team would NEVER be called the Redskins. Goodell would use the opportunity to finally get rid of that 'controversy' - in fact any deal to bring another team (or start one) in DC would be contingent on a name change effectively ending the history of a once great franchise. I don't know how any Redskins fan would desire that? And finally - just like the Ravens are not the Colts, the team wouldn't be a continuation of the Redskins no matter what the name. I hold an allegiance to the franchise I rooted for as a kid, for better or worse, not to the name 'Washington'. Many former Skins fans, like me, would decide to move on permanently and would be justified doing so.

It's not going to happen.

And if it ever did, we'd rue that day forever.

I don't like what Snyder and the people he's hired have done to the Redskins. But you know what? Life's a bitch. You don't always get sunshine and winning lottery tickets. Being a fan means weathering the bad, even the awful, and hoping beyond hope somehow, someway, someday, glory arrives. And when it does... I don't always appreciate Ax's approach and blunt delivery, but this is what he's preached since the day this site opened, probably the most consistent viewpoint through good and bad of any poster here. And he's mostly right about that.

That's what being a fan is. We're not the only fans to suffer or to have suffered. At some level, we all need to man up and stop crying and whining constantly. Be a fan, or don't.

As far as 'I'll never watch another game...' - I hear that every damn offseason, and for 99% of us, it's just a promise made out of frustration, and one that thankfully most of us can't live up to. As for me - epic frustration aside - I expect I'll continue to watch every game until I'm no longer able to. It may be a blessing or a curse - only way I'll know for sure is to keep watching.

And on a sidenote, Twitter is a lot of fun, but it hardly represents 'average fans' (if there is such a thing). It's a haven for the snarky, the rampantly cynical, the reactionary idiots, and conspiracy nuts.
