Random Commanders Thoughts

Special teams had their best game of the year.
I also think griffin looked really good (respective to the rest of this season) for the whole game for the first time this year. O line played well enough, he had enough time.

Coverage was pretty good, but the blunder on the punt was huge.

i actually completely forgot about that...

what a bad season.

You're suffering from selective memory due to a historically bad Redskins team. Play 2 DVD's of our Super Bowls under Gibbs. Hopefully this will help.

PS...can anyone recommend a good professional dominos team?

Silver linings:
Orakpo dominated last night, both in the pass-rush (at least the first half) and in the run game. Looked like the number 14 overall pick out there for awhile. Drew at least one holding penalty (should have had more).

Moss looked good returning punts...don't know why its taken this long to put him back there.

Griffin was going through progressions when he had the time to do so - he seems to be developing as a pocket-passer. Accuracy was not there on a lot of throws still...I think this is lingering mental issues with the knee and planting.

Kinda Meh:
11 carries for Morris, only 2 in the second half. I was encouraged to see him catching more passes out of the backfield; that's been a huge question mark for me as to why they don't use him in the passing game more often. Someone said he was injured, I haven't heard anything about that.

Route-running - Garçon lost out on a TD due to bad route-running (presumably). Then he kicked the ball further than Forbath has ever kicked a kickoff. New KO specialist?

Kerrigan - are they coaching him to be mediocre? He is regressing.

Just plain WTF:
Griffin lead-blocking on the reverse - WTF? We are 3 and ****ing 8, and you've got our 3-first round pick QB coming off a major knee surgery out there LEAD BLOCKING? I would have fired Kyle on the spot.

Drops - saw at least 77 drops last night, quite a few in critical situations. Fred Davis (big surprise) had some huge drops, as did Garçon (actually a surprise, he's usually clutch). These were on balls that were pretty much on target as well.

Garcon looked like he was sleepwalking through that second half. Frankly, after he kicked the ball I got the impression he just went "**** this. I'm not trying anymore."

Too bad too, because we actually had a chance at the end of the game if he had played like he gave a damn.

I hope he got whatever that was out of his system.

i think he realizes he's having a pro bowl type year, has been healthy (this is only the second time in his 6 year career he has a chance at starting every game) and realizes it's being completely wasted.

which is typical MO of the redskins. get a few good players, watch them waste the prime of their career because there's just not enough around them.

Triplette gives poor explanation of Sunday night first-down screw-up | ProFootballTalk

You can read the article, but this really hit me like a ton of bricks and then some.

"It gets worse. Triplette said he didn’t call a time out to fix the obvious blunder because stopping the clock would have helped Washington too much.

"“There are no timeouts in this situation,” Triplette said. “We just didn’t shut it down in that situation because that would have given an unfair advantage.”"

Where have we heard that line before??? Oh yeah, Goodell, Mara, and Lurie on the cap crap junk!!! It's almost word for word!!! Oh, I'm sure that it is not lost on us that it happened against the gints. I don't believe in these kind of coincidences!

Someone caught one of the chain operators either dropping an F bomb or the words "F 'em" after the botched call. "F em" would be quite telling...

How Everyone Screwed Up On Washington's Mistaken First Down

i feel like i'm the only person that doesn't care about the ref screwup at the end of the game

I don't care in the sense that "OMG WE COULD HAVE WON," because they did a fine job losing that game before any of that nonsense happened. I'm upset in that it happened at all, and the team we were playing when it did happen.

I don't think it would have made a difference, I just have no confidence in our team right now. :(

Having said that, for the first time, I am starting to buy into the idea that things are rigged against us, and that Win needs to hurry up and bitch-slap Mara with a dead possum.

Yeah guess I'm just more focused on other issues with the team than the refs.

One thing I'm not hearing enough today is that the refs couldn't have screwed the game up so much if you know... we HAD A TIMEOUT TO TAKE! worst clock management going unchecked over and over and over and over.

How many end of first halves have we walked off the field without points? How many times does Griffin get down to the dreaded "00" on the playclock?

You know why the no-huddle is successful with Griffin? It takes away all that time that Kyle seems to take picking the all so elusive perfect play. Successful teams are ready to put the ball in play at 12-15 seconds to go. We have not been that team in a long...long time.

Having lived in NJ and NY for more than a decade... I cannot tolerate losing the a team that should be in last place in our own division. Its utterly embarassing that the Giants have like 30 people out of the lineup due to injury and they still dominate us physically. Embarassing.

Clock management has definitely been atrocious. Adjustments have been atrocious (or nonexistent). Personnel decisions have been atrocious. All of these things are on coaching...maybe it is time for a change?
