Random Commanders Thoughts

The fact the Saints were able to take Michael Thomas in Round 2 while we failed with Doctson at #22 is telling.

It's all a matter of draft value.

We rarely seem to enjoy receiving it with our picks 🤬

And if Michael Thomas had come here?

He at least wouldn't have spent two-thirds of his first three seasons on IR, including the vast majority of his first.

You may be right, but my point wasn't that he was better than Doctson, I was leading into the assertion I made that we do not have players on this team that make other players better. Drew Brees has turned a few receivers into super stars where they got less production anywhere else they went...Jimmy Graham. Michael Thomas would not be a league leading WR if he'd come here was my point...not that Doctson was a better option.

This garbage for one of our key players is okay during the preseason. But late in the year? We've become the most embarrassing franchise in sports--again.

Do we even have an equipment manager? Or would that cost break the bank?

Which clown is in charge of jerseys?

You mean like when they gave out #49 to a backup TE Leonard Stephens despite the fact it was Bobby Mitchell's number?

There are quite a number of Gibbs era Redskins (and before as well) that don't want to have anything to do with Snyder and Allen.

And the hits just keep on coming...

Zach Brown, who will be associated with the Redskins for the rest of the story, was exposed by a prostitute on social media. Ordinarily, I wouldn't care...but the current state of affairs in Redskins Park being what it is, this is just fodder for the vultures in the media to make us look, well like the dysfunctional organization we are.

Foster, Swearinger and Brown... The Three Stooges. It was only a matter of time before Swearinger's BFF had an issue.

Would Gibbs do it a third time in a row? Especially after his health ultimately was at risk and that was ten years ago. He can't. People in Chick's stream are speculating Casserly... the single most overrated GM this team ever had. Chick would have every right to not be excited. Everyone should feel the same.
I could see JG coming in, but not as coach. Rather, he'd be a consultant to DS on how to fix this mess. Perhaps that might include removing BA, and perhaps finding someone with better football sense. Louis Riddick? Whoever it is, having Gibbs in the building in any capacity would give the fan base something to hope for, and perhaps slow down the erosion of the fan base.

Gibbs is 78. I can't imagine him wanting to come back in any capacity. If Chick knows something (quite possible he's just speculating) it would most likely relate to Riddick.

Casserly is 70, and other than being some kind of comforting rehash of a guy associated with prior glory, not sure why he'd be an answer as GM.

And here's my question - if it is Riddick, he was an integral part of recent decisions that got us here - I understand that he never had GM power previously, but what evidence is there that he's the guy for that job? He's a very likable guy. But what's he done to inspire belief he can straighten this disaster of a franchise out?

I will remain of the belief that we'll never consistently win with Dan Snyder at the top. And that is not going to change barring Divine Intervention.

It's Scott MacGloughan and he has been sober for 2 years.

I wonder what his 'sober' picks would look like...

Because his 'non-sober' picks looked like shit :)

I've thought it's going to take someone like Gibbs to tell Snyder how full of suck this organization is. I think it's going to have to be some Redskins legend he greatly respects that has been a great leader and knows leadership. I know Theismann is always in his box, but lets face it, Theismann is a blowhard. If he's telling Snyder what needs to be done, it's not going to improve anything. That's why I think it would have to be someone like Gibbs who can do it not only with the legacy of being a great leader, but also has the grace of a gentleman. Yeah, we'd all love for someone Snyder respects to go in yelling and screaming and telling him what a failure he has been. But Gibbs would do it in a way that might actually get through. I just don't know if Gibbs wants to do that or would do that. Having him be the GM or picking players hasn't been the best thing in the past. But Gibbs could always pick leaders and great assistants. Perhaps he could pick a great football guy to run things.
