Dotson is officially a bust. The great purge of McLovin players can't finish soon enough.
I'm not ready to call him a bust quite yet. He had a bunch of targets yesterday and drew 3 PI calls. On the endzone one he was completely mugged.
I agree he needs to show up during a game properly at some point but I'm still giving him some benefit of the doubt at the mo.
Week 1 was a much more run orientated game, week 2 Smith was off his game, and this week he had a bunch of targets but was victim of some Pass Interference.
Some players just take a little time to make the leap. Look at Ioannidas this year! He's balling this year and in the past we almost cut him!
Doctson was a little unfortunate on the fade last week when the DB had his arm in between Doctsons. Otherwise he was coming down with that ball.
This week he was mugged in the endzone.
Sometimes it's just the run of the play, bad luck. Hauling those two in would have given him 2 TD's in the season and we might be talking differently.
Plus I think we're still seeing the results of Smith learning chemistry with his receivers. Reed became his favourite target this week after being MIA in the last couple of games. Thompson was a non factor this week after being huge in week one and a lone bright spot in week 2. I think the lack of general consistency across the offense is affecting things for all our receivers (even from half to half) but I'm hoping that will settle down the more game-reps they all have together.
Last night was a great game. Not perfect, I still worry about this stretched where we go scoreless and can't move the ball, but the first half showed the potential of this offense that I think we're only beginning to tap.
The best teams need to peak towards the end of the season, going into the playoffs. This could be us this year if they can avoid any serious injuries and gain consistency down the stretch. I think we could be a dangerous team later in the year if we can do that.
(I hope so as I put my pre season bet on the Skins to win the Superbowl at 50/1 odds.
)
Especially as the NFC is looking more open that I thought.
Watching Rodgers hobble on that knee last night... I don't know if he lasts the season. If he doesn't GB are done.
And the 49ers are toast if Garoppolo's season is done too.
The Eagles look beatable, the Cowboys and the Giants look awful.
The Saints look like a monster of offence and horror show on D.
The Vikings... who knows what to make of them. Buffalo killed them yesterday, we've seen this Kirk Cousins before.
Currently the best teams in the NFC look like the Rams and the Buccs. *shrug*
It's early yet but this looks like a year that could be pretty open at the moment.
