Random Commanders Thoughts

Has Ryan Anderson been a disappointment ?
Because it seems like I've hardly heard his name mentioned during any of the games, and seemingly never mentioned on forums during the regular season.

John Keim says he looks very good, but that the players in front of him look even better fwiw.

That's good news, but since we just stacked ourselves at OLB, makes me wonder if we'd have been better off drafting a 2nd DL, after taking Allen.

If it was Gallette injured and Smith being Smith 2016, we all would have been happy we picked him up. It's the risk you take in any draft, and all it takes is the right injury to make a draft pick look like a smart foresight move versus a second-guessed one.

Fair to second-guess the talent level after a couple years of our picks, but as far as position...sometimes just gotta take the best player you can because as we have seen this year, injuries happen. For the 2017 Redskins, they happen with an egregiously regular occurrence.

Anderson, to me, seems more suited to being a strong-side linebacker in a 4-3 than a olb in a 3-4.

Cruising around the interwebz and reading about someone in the Skins Front Office saying that the next five games would determine Kirk's future here.

Seriously?

The guy has started for three years, been in the building almost six? If you don't know by now, it pretty much tells everyone how much you suck at player evaluation.

That is, if the statement is actually true.

It will be interesting to see at LB.

Trent Murphy, Galette and Preston Smith are free agents so the club may very well need Ryan Anderson or another player on the outside for 2018.

In reference to his playing well/poorly, Chris Cooley's review was that Anderson is given limited reps because he hasn't shown himself to be instinctual on the field when he's out there. He gets out of position and isn't that strong on the edge as a run defender.

He gets out of position and isn't that strong on the edge as a run defender.

That seemed to be one of the knocks on him, based on his Draft Profile...

His edge rush is more elongated and gradual than tight and sharp. Gets punched by tackles while shoulders are still square, causing him to flatten out as a rusher.

Kirk in his 4th season as a starter and the last guy to start for at least 4 seasons was...Rypien. 8 Head Coaches also since Marks last year - 1993. 1 - 4 in Wild Card games; 0-2 in division playoff games and no season with more than 10 wins in those 24 years.

More of a statement about Washington's FO than anything else.

If NY doesn't get any receivers back on the field it won't matter a whole lot who the QB is.

Here's the most recent stats on both possible QB's

*Geno Smith has the lowest passer rating as a starter of any quarterback with 30 starts since he was drafted in 2013

*Davis Webb when targeting the Pac-12's best CBs:

10/30
89 yards
0 TD
2 INT
2 PBUs
14.6 QB Rating

Giants are tanking, Eagles are ranking, Cowboys are wanking, and Comfortable Kirk is banking.

If he doesn't run the table, that'll mean he be stanking!

"Stanking" would be - who we're competing with for the wild card spots......so we don't necessarily need to run the table.
4-1 may get us in playoffs.
That's 9-7.....and I believe 9-7 would have gotten us in last year's playoffs.

Eagles are ranking

Doesn't "ranking" mean to smell bad ?

No.

rank·ing
ˈraNGkiNG
noun

  • 1. a position in a scale of achievement or status; a classification.
    "his number-one world ranking"

9-7 was last year.

There's a good chance that a 10-6 team won't make it in this year. In the NFC.
We could win out and still not make it.

Obviously, things can change week to week.

But for now, we need to win the next 3, and see where we stand.
