The venture capitalism one was funny a few years ago. Now it's just depressing.

Yeah I can't help but laugh at how traditional capitalism is described ignoring the problems with it and only highlighting what are supposed to be the advantages, while describing every other one in the their worst sense

I'm going to be reading up on this whole situation a bit more this weekend when I have time. But I effing love that picture, and a big part of me hopes that's exactly what we do.

so how should it be described better in your opinion? I'll be open minded.

probably something referencing the idea that you sell a cow to try to buy a bull to make more cows and sell milk to make money, but giant corporations lobby policy makers to rezone your land so you can't even own cows and force you to sell them, then buy the land next door have the same land rezoned and make billions off of their own cows.

or maybe they rush into your market and sell their mass produced milk at half the price until you go bankrupt and are forced to sell off your cows to pay bills.

you can substitute milk with cows, or meat, or whatever part of the cow it is you're supposed to be using to make money.

i'm sure someone with more wit can come up with a funnier and more clever way of wording it.

I was simply pointing out that it highlights the most negative perceptions of every system while highlighting the most positive perception of capitalism. the 'and the economy grows' part was the best. I'm not trying to crap on the joke, I thoroughly enjoyed reading it, some of them are really good. It's just something that caught my eye

That doesnt sound like actual capitalism though, you are describing the bastardized, "crony Capitalism" which a capitalist would be against.

I am still looking for the negatives is real capitalism if practiced in purity.

Right, but that's also what they're doing with every other system in that joke... that's the point...

Many of those systems look good on paper, it's in practice that it goes to ****. It's also true that there are good and bad sides to all the systems. My point was they chose to show the worst of everything except capitalism, which they chose to show the best of.

I hate to break it to you, but for the most part our practiced form of capitalism is the bastardized form...

If you don't believe me then I have a bull and a cow I'd like to sell you. Make sure you let me know when you're ready to retire.

and why do corporations (and Unions, and public interest groups, etc, etc) lobby policy makers and dangle future jobs? because that, increasingly, is where the money and control is at.
