Weeding out the suckers Pitchforks and torches

    By John Pappas

If the Redskins thought there was dissention and dissatisfaction following last weeks win against St. Louis; wait till they get a load of the mood this week.

Washington went to Detroit and got their you-know-whats handed to them by a Detroit team hungry for a victory. Washington struggled on offense (again). They failed in the red zone (again). And the defense couldnt get off the field (again).

These added up to a 19-14 loss that has fans ready to storm the castle.

But before they burn it down, lets take a look at the heroes and villains of the game. After all, we dont want the innocent targeted, nor the guilty allowed to escape.

    Santana Moss Hot

Moss had 10 catches for 178 yards and 1 touchdown. What a shame the effort was wasted in a loss. Moss showed how good he can be when given the chance, making nice grabs and showing the breakaway speed that strikes fear in opposing defenses.

    Coach Jim Zorn Not

Outside left on fourth-and-goal. Now thats something we havent seen before. Following the game, Zorn said that he was ok with it at the time because there was no way the Lions were going 99 yards the other way.

    You dont say.

Next, Zorn decided to accept a penalty and give the Lions another shot on third down in Redskins territory. Lions quarterback Matt Stafford showed his appreciation by converting the third down and then throwing a 21-yard touchdown to Bryant Johnson.

Add in the ineffective offensive play calling and Zorn is coaching like a guy who does not want his job anymore.

The only thing I don't agree with is the Moss comments. Sure he seemed hot, but against a team like the Lions........ I can't take this as an indicator of how he'll do against a good secondary.

Yup, he had a great day. No lets see how he fares against a good team.

Not to disagree with you, but the article is meant to be a snapshot in time.

That being said, Moss is a pretty darn good player, and has shown it enough.

Yeah, but next week he'll disapper again. And since JC has Moss lock on every pass play, it's a bad thing when Moss disappears
