Default You Will Lose Internet July ( (Seriously) Unless You Verify You Are Not Infected

In this thread a while back, I mentioned a malware issue I was having. Come to find out, so were millions of others.

    https://www.bgobsession.com/showthread.php?t=40669

I eventually had to back up my files and do a full HD wipe to solve the problem.

For those living in a cave, the FBI months ago set up a safety net on their servers to protect users that were infected with a malicious international DNS changer. July 9th, that safety net will be removed, and you will lose the internet if you aren't safe. Here's a link to a story for those skeptics among us to verify.

    http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2012/...est=latestnews

Checking to see if you are infected is easy. Just go to the link below, and you will get a green light as I did, or you will get a red light warning you that your system is infected. It's free, and they give you another link to clean it up for free as well if you need to.

    http://www.dns-ok.us/

It doesn't require you to download anything or sign permission for anything, it's just a quick system check, and literally only takes as long as it takes you to click the link.

Here are steps to check your servers manually - I would trust this before some website.

But that's your opinion, and it's not what they suggest. According to the FBI, you should use the link I provided, which was provided by them. It's not "some website" and they expressly state that it is more effective than doing it manually, and that only the people who absolutely insist on it should do it manually.

The FBI has run an impressive campaign for months, encouraging people to visit a website that will inform them whether they're infected and explain how to fix the problem. After July 9, infected users won't be able to connect to the Internet.
The link in the article takes you here.....http://www.dcwg.org/

    Which says the following....
    How Can I Protect Myself?

This page describes how you can determine if you are infected, and how you can clean infected machines. To check if you’re infected, Click Here.
The link there takes you here.....http://www.dcwg.org/detect/ Which posts the following under the link I provided in the OP.....
Use of the “check up” pages are more effective, but some would want to check manually.
I would trust that before downloading a pdf.

Maybe I don't know how this internet thing works, but I *thought* the words "I would" made it clear that it was my opinion.

You really just can't stop yourself can you? Can someone please make this thread read only, and delete everything past the first post?

Can't stop myself? I posted something topical in the thread, and you responded with one of your typical 18-paragraph rebuttals breaking down everything written into 23 different quotes, chastising me for something (still not quite sure what your point was). And yet its ME who can't stop themselves?

The GIF I just saw in my head was so bad ass lol. It makes you wonder how many people will wake up on July 9th and be completely baffled and think their computer is broke. Me thinks this would be a good time to buy Apple or Dell stock. There is sure to be a massive boost in computer sales by clueless morons lol. I bet home service IT guys are salivating over the money they'll make on trouble calls.
