River Monsters

Anyone watch this ?
Every show has some insane new creature on it, that defies everything we've been taught.

And unlike other shows about mythical creatures, that show little or no evidence, this guy actually hunts down and catches the alleged fish monsters that have terrorized and plagued many villages, and well-documented attacks.

So why is it, that the "River Monsters" show is the only place we hear about these fish ?

Why don't you hear it on the news, or learn it in school ?

Like a huge fish that literally jumps out of the water to knock fisherman out of their boats and into the water, and then devours them ?

Why don't you hear about this anywhere else ?
They afraid it will ruin tourism ?

Come on, will someone please watch this scary show with me, because watching it alone gives me the chills.

I enjoy 'River Monsters' too. When I was a little kid, my Dad would take me with him to a Skeet Club he belonged too at Ft. Belvoir. I was too young to shoot, but it was right on a river/lake and I'd take my little Zebco rod and fish while he did his thing. One time, I got a nibble and then hooked a fish. When I reeled it in, it was the weirdest damn thing I'd ever seen, had spines all over it (like a Porcupine Fish, which obviously it couldn't have been). I had another River Monster experience in college. There was a damn and reservoir about 15 miles from my apartment on the outskirts of Charlottesville. When I needed a break from exams, I'd go out there and fish alone for a few hours. I was headed out there one time and the skies just let loose, one of those storms that rolls through and creates raging water. I almost didn't even try to fish, but figured what the hell. Threw some natural bait down in the big pool at the bottom of the dam (where the water was absolutely roiling. I couldn't even envision a fish being able to see the bait, but damned if I didn't feel something heavy bend my pole over backwards almost as soon as the bait hit the water. I really thought I must've snagged a log. But it wasn't a log. When I finally reeled it in, I couldn't believe it. To this day I'm not sure what it was, but it was the biggest fresh water fish I've ever caught. If I had to guess, it looked like a Muskie, although that's on the extreme end of their range. Worst part was, there was no one there to even show it to. I didn't want to kill it just to be able to identify it, so I let it go. Probably one of the coolest experiences I've ever had on my own out in the woods.

But yeah, River Monsters is a cool show.

And the fish was THIIIIS BIG, right ?

Though not nearly as deep as the ocean, it seems rivers have similarly hidden many creatures from our discovery, from the mere depth that they thrive in. Just shows that that you never know.........what lies beneath.

I never would have thunk this possible, but I would now be more scared of being attacked in a river than an ocean.
