B BGO.C.D.: Across the Line of Scrimmage

It's not every day you are fortunate enough to interview a guy who practiced, scrimmaged against, and studied soon-to-be-Redskins QB *Robert Griffin...

That last question (and answer) is an interesting one. I'm being biased, but was thinking it could be higher.

A great interview with a lot of insider type of information. You can't get this from any reporter or fan. I learned several things from the interview and I'm sure we will continue to learn more about RG3 in the times to come.

Thanks to the teammate for doing the interview. That was a very gracious thing to do when you consider the time constraints that a college athlete has each day - even in the offseason.

Sweet read. The funny thing is, we all pretty much know RG3 well enough by now that we could have answered those questions the same way his teammate did.

This interview just affirms that what we see is what we get with Robert. Can't wait to see him on the field!

Difference is, like we always do - we see and believe what we want to believe as fans desperate for success. I take comfort in the extremely high ratings someone who played with him gave RG3.

I'm pretty confident BUwolverine29 will swing by this thread at some point - if you have other questions you want his perspective on, let them fly and I'm sure he'll be glad to give you his take.

    I do have a non-RG3 question for BUwolverine29...

I'm assuming that you have used up your eligibility. If not, will we get to see you on the field this fall? We would support you 100% and tune into games that are on TV or streamed on the internet.

I have a question for BUwolverine29 as well.

What is it like to be part of a team that has brought such a big turnaround to the Baylor program and knowing the success will help recruiting and possibly keep the program successful?

Side note: Watching the Baylor fans this past season makes me think of Redskins fans. Absolutely giddy to have success after some lean years. Hoping that changes in DC REAL SOON!

Great read. I've been bombing one of my line Bro's inbox with RG3 stuff for the past several days. This will probably be next.

Certainly there are no guarantees but Griff has all the boxes checked so at least we've got the best shot possible at success with him. I'm looking forward to the wildest ride ever. If not, it'll be the bitterest crow I've ever had to eat but hell I've gotta say, considering the risk to reward ratio I think his upside is worth the risk of a horrible crow dinner.

Nice insight from someone who's seen him play and practice every day.

    Love the work ethic stuff.

Actually, I have one more season of eligibility. However, I am no longer able to play football. I sustained a career ending injury last year against Texas Tech--Tib/Fib multiple break. 7 surgeries later I am back running again and just trying to get healthy.

BUT I would appreciate you rooting for the Baylor Bears any chance you get!

Well I have always been in a "turnaround" program. In high school, our team had not made it to the playoffs in nearly 15 years and our team was the first one to do that two years in a row. So, Baylor was a natural fit for me. It made no difference what the history was to me. It was all about hard work and focus. People said Baylor would/could never win. They said that about my high school as well. I just like to prove people wrong.

But I believe our success (as well as all of our other sports-basketball, baseball, etc) has built a strong foundation for the future, and I am very excited for Baylor and the city of Waco to reap the benefits. It is unprecedented the athletic accomplishments Baylor has made this year--Heisman and Alamo Bowl for football, Elite Eight for Mens bball, National Championship for womens basketball, Post-season play for every fall sport, National Championship in equestrian, and now our baseball team was recently ranked #1 in the nation and had a 24 game winning streak and is currently undefeated in Big 12 play.

So in short, I think the Redskins will have tremendous success in the future because by acquiring Robert Griffin, they have got a guy who knows what hard work is needed to win and win consistently.

    Go Bears. Go Skins.

    Nice read. Thanks to BUwolverine.

    A couple little things though.

Referring to Mark Rypien as a franchise QB is quite the stretch.

As is the tired, inaccurate, yet constant description of "ESPN's Team".

Thanks for all your insights BUWolverine, and again congratulations to Baylor for making themselves a force to be reckoned with in the NCAA.

National championship in equestrian on top of everything else?

    Damn.

At the risk of abusing wolverine's generosity ...

What I'd really love to read is a first-person account of a couple of plays on the practice field where you and Rob went against each other. The more X and O specific the better. We can read scouting reports and opinions all day--what we never get is a serious on-the-field breakdown of specific football situations.

Love to read about one play where you got the better of Rob, and/or maybe another where he got the better of you. You know, in the spirit of sometimes you get the Bear and sometimes the Bear gets you.

Any specific plays/sequences spring to mind in either category that you have posterized in your mind?

This football addiction runs deep man.

Hey, there was a time when that equestrian title would've been the lead story of our success!

It's called 3 of the 4 years I was there

Maybe Ax - but who would you refer to as our last franchise QB then? Theismann? Sonny (who HOF or not, couldn't beat out Billy Kilmer for the starting job?). Maybe we need to go all the way back to Slingin' Sammy

Sonny couldn't beat out Kilmer as much because Allen didn't like him as for their individual levels of play.
