Weeding out the suckers Anyone for goat?

    By John Pappas

In an offensive effort that was more lack-than-luster, the Washington Redskins managed to eke out a win against the St. Louis Rams at FedEx Field. It wasnt so much a defensive battle, as much as a demonstration of offensive ineptitude.

Sure the offense moved the ball. Sure the defense held and made plays when they had to. But to only hang nine points on what is arguably one of the worst teams in the league is not something that will send the fans home happy.

In fact, they booed on the way out.

Still, there was plenty to see, both good and bad. Here we take a look at both.

    Shaun Suisham Hot

In a game that featured just nine points for the Redskins, we have to celebrate the guy responsible. Suisham connected on field goals of 21, 23, and 28 yards. He was dependable on each and if not for it, Washington is trying to explain how they lost to the Rams.

Later in the article you wrote that Zorn's decision to go for it on fourth down rather than kicking the FG was the smart thing to do. I'll have to beg to differ with you on that one. I'd much rather we force them to score a TD to win rather than a FG. Our defense played a decent game but hadn't shut them down completely by any stretch of the imagination. With us up by only two points, we're a long pass or S. Jackson run followed by a game winning FG from having our season be effectively over.

This was a HUGE mistake by Zorn and the type of error that likely means this is his last season here.

I hear you, and you may be right. But what if coverage breaks down and the Rams have a big return? Also, it is risk-versus-reward and if they can cconvert, the point is moot.

I am going to have to agree with Yusuf on this one and just about every pundit on either Comcast Post Game, ESPN or NFL Network agreed.

With better clock management by the coach prior to the 2-minute warning things might have been moot anyway. While I don't agree with going for it on 4th down in that situation, I am much more pissed about Zorn calling a Timeout with 2:13 left following the 2nd down play. Game smart coaches don't do that with a lead. Ever.
