Helmet Griffin Reportedly Already Learning Skins Offense

    RGII Already Learning Skins Offense

The Redskins can’t draft Robert Griffin III for another three weeks, but they’re already confident enough that he’s their quarterback of the future that they’re teaching him their playbook.

In fact, Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan has already traveled to Waco, Texas, where Griffin was the Heisman Trophy winner at Baylor, to meet with Griffin. And Chick Hernandez of Comcast SportsNet is reporting...

    More at link above
I have to say I am a bit stunned by this report.

So much for the mad tweeter of the Colts aka Major Twit, using RG3 to scare Luck into negotiating a contract a less than fair market value.

Besides its quite obvious that RG3 is letting the Colt know to not bother drafting him.

Dave, with the slotting in the new CBA, there isn't much wiggle room in terms of money, either up or down, so that wasn't a consideration, I don't think.

More like the Colts the playing games with our FO to see if maybe they could scare them into offering up a pick to swap places in order to be sure to get our guy.

Interesting. Of course, both sides could deny it quickly if asked by the media. The good news in this is that RG3 is really warming up to the idea of being a member of the Redskins and trusting this coaching staff (oh, the horror DonnyMac!).

Apparently yes. There does not seem to be any stipulations against team officials visiting a player on campus before the draft and because he hasn't been drafted yet the CBA does not prohibit player-coach contact like it does with guys already under contract with the team.

NFL: Kyle visits to RG3 are OK
    by Rich Tandler

When I passed along the report from Chick Hernandez that Kyle Shanahan is visiting Robert Griffin III in Waco, Texas between now, and the draft, I went on the assumption that the Redskins checked to make sure that such visits are legal. Some on Twitter questioned it, however, so I thought it would be good to double check.

I reached out to Greg Aiello of the NFL to ask about the league's policy on such things and here is his response:

This is perfectly okay as long as it is in the metro area of the player's hometown or college, and there is no time limit.

So, there it is. You can get visions of draft pick penalties out of your heads now, at least regarding this.

Now as long as they don't change their minds retroactively in two years, we are good.

I don't like the sounds of this.
And not even talking about the legal or NFL rules side of this.
Kind of arrogant to assume the team is that certain about who the Colts will draft.
    This may not end well.

I rather like the idea. From the sound of things Luck being drafted by the Dolts is all but a lock, as is our pick of RG3. With the first two picks virtually decided, I think we'd be silly to sit on our hands waiting for draft day.

As long as both sides are cool with it I think it makes excellent sense...anything to improve on last year's performance would, in my book.

For all we know, the Colts may have already reassured us behind the scenes that they're taking Luck. This is a non-story, but I can't see how it could be viewed as a bad thing.

Agreed. I don't think we'd be doing this if we weren't 100% sure Griffin was coming here.

It may also be a clear signal that we expect RGIII to be our opening day starter

Along with the other side of the coin, a clear sign they want to continue to do everything possible to make sure Mr. Grossman is not the week one starter.

So what you're really saying is, Skins fans don't just want RG3. They want to be RGFREE too

    Sometimes, I really wish I had a t-shirt company.
