As this season ends and our hopes of a successful playoff run were long ago crushed, I find myself looking back thinking that this may be the most difficult year I have ever experienced as a Redskins' fan. I did not come into this season with any absurd expectations, I knew we would not win a Super Bowl, but I did believe we had a better team than the one that showed up this season. With the hype over the past 10 years of a SB contender just a player or 2 away, reality set in and I took the wait and see attitude a few years ago, but this year I still had higher hopes than waiting to see what our draft position is as the last game of the year approaches.
As we quibbled about the quality, or lack thereof, of this team throughout the season, I often found myself embroiled in intelligent, informative, and respectful discussion on this site. I did not get bogged down while in conversation, by the negative banter that I have seen spewed about on other sites. As difficult as this season was as a fan to watch, the opportunity to come aboard BGO and discuss Redskins' woes was rather therapeutic. It afforded me the option to discuss Redskins football with like minded, obsessed fans who were every bit as frustrated as I was, not get caught up in arguments with opposing teams' fans having no real basis for discourse.
For the opportunity for a bit of therapy, if you will, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the founders of this site and the members who challenged me to think and offered a little support as we labored through the most difficult season as a Redskin fan I have experienced.
Thank you for founding this site! And thank you to the members who make this site a haven of intelligent discourse!
Now, what do we do in the off-season? Speculate? :kick_can:
