    Default Homer McFanBoy Observations

Thought there were some interesting nuggets here, particularly about the Seahags firing up our guys, and the Special Teams stuff. Think Gano will be replaced?

Judging by the fisticuffs that took place during the coin toss, I’d say that I wasn’t the only person at CenturyLink Field who wasn’t a big fan of Seattle. But we’ll get to that in a minute.

Each and every Sunday, the Redskins players meet up at the 50-yard line briefly once they’ve finished their pregame warmups. It only lasts a few seconds, but it’s definitely something they’ve been doing for years — at all games home and away.

Well, because all people in Seattle are clearly insecure, several Seahawks players took this gesture as a slight against them and their captains tried to get in the faces of DeAngelo Hall, London Fletcher and Trent Williams during the coin toss because, as Hall put it, they were made “we stomped on their Seahawk.”

Not only is that a ridiculous sentence to begin with, but it’s also the stupidest thing Seattle could have done. Their unneccessary pushing and shoving motivated the Redskins in a way I haven’t seen this season.

For the first time during the 2011 season, the Redskins offense was able to take the ball and drive down the field for a touchdown on their opening possession. Again, the Seahawks players get all confrontational with the Redskins, who respond by putting together their best opening drive all year long. Coincidence? I think not.

Had they simply come out and said nothing, then the offense likely would have found a way to stall like every other time this season. Instead, they insured a fragile and underperforming team remained highly motivated throughout the contest and ultimately lost to Washington, 23-17.

Yeah, you can't blame Gano because the line sucks. I thought it was interesting how Mora was saying the Redskins line should be ashamed of their performance on the blocked kicks and how they were playing high school level ball, just getting blown up.

And those weren't the only kicks Gano's had blocked this year. Get some decent line play up front, Gano makes those kicks, and there's not such an uproar. The focus should be on the poor line play, not the kicker for those blocked kicks.

Gano isn't helping his cause. He leads the NFL in missed kicks.

Wouldn't break my heart to see a different kicker, next year.

Along with a new ST coach. Other than our punter, our special teams have been below average, overall, in my opinion. That appears to be coaching, or lack thereof.

Yeah and the worst part is the Cowgirls have stumbled into a rookie kicker who has been outstanding!

Kickers are a strange breed. Guys like Akers and Vanderjact are the exception. Kickers will get in a slump and can't get out. You almost need a team shrink.

We need to find another Mosley or Lohmiller.

True, but I imagine it gets in a kicker's head once he's had a number of kicks blocked.

I dunno, Vanderdrunk got in a funk and started missing everything - I don't think he's kicked in the NFL since. Maybe you meant Vinatieri?

Maybe we need new motovators on this team. Someone dressed up in the opposing teams uniform to talk smack before the game

Funny how stuff like this can get players fired up, but the coaches can't

Sarge, the coach is the boss, talking smack is his job but the other team's players are your enemy, when they talk smack it's like getting spit in the face-you wanna kick their a$$es for that.

I'm giving it a 2-4 year window. Looking for improvement in all areas. Redskins, you're on the clock.
