Default Patriots throng of defensive linemen at practice doesnt include Albert Haynesworth

    Hee hee hee heee

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/...kO4I_blog.html

The New England Patriots have seemingly signed every defensive lineman available, including free-agent Andre Carter, as they prepare to make some changes in how we align and player responsibilities, according to Coach Bill Belichick.

One of them, though has been MIA.

Its no surprise that that one person is Albert Haynesworth. He missed his third consecutive practice Monday (the team was off Sunday) and Belichick offered no explanation. Missing practices and camps is nothing new for Haynesworth, who typically has knee maintenance as he prepares for the season.

I can't believe it. He was always so reliable and punctual, and always about the team. It's hard to believe he would do this.

It's my understanding that Haynesworth voted against the new collective bargaining agreement. His argument was that unless they installed park benches and cots on the football field (not on the sideline, mind you, but the field, that the contract didn't meet his needs.

Afterall, the average football play lasts eight seconds and that's way too long for a professional athlete to stay on his feet without naptime.

Meh. Let's see what happens during the season. If he continues to half-ass it, so much the better as the schadenfreude I would experience with regard to both NE and Haynesworth would be a nice subplot to the football season. It's too early to say anything yet though.

That would mean a lot coming from you since you've been one to suggest he would have done much better had he not been mishandled in DC.

Provided NE is switching to more of a 4-3 front, AH will no longer have that excuse to hide behind. Should be interesting.

Andre Carter will end up helping the Patriots more in 2011 than Haynesworth.

I really believe that Haynesworth has been in a gradual decline emotionally over the past several years beginning with the incidents down in TN when he allegedly threatened his wife into getting a restraining order to stomping on Andre Gurode, etc.

That erratic behavior has followed him. In Washington there was the road rage incident that was settled out of court and now the court case with the waitress at the W Hotel.

In between, my understanding is Haynesworth is allegedly being sued by a man that is now disabled when Albert's car collided with his in TN when Albert was going over 100 mph on a suburban expressway.

Does this sound like a player you want on your team? Does it seem like someone focused on their career?

Difference being, the Pats could give to bedpans if he shows up or not. They've got the NT covered.

he would have done much better had he not been mishandled, but thats spilt milk, I think he is probably out of shape as he was probably pretty sure he was staying in DC, I think he will get in shape and play well for the patsies, but time will tell.

DUDE. GET OVER IT. He's a grown man, he was not mishandled. When you're a man, your behavior is YOUR OWN RESPONSIBILITY.

I was talking to someone else, and if anyone should get over it it would be you. Nobody is saying Haynesworth handled himself professionally but only a dummy would suggest that the team put him in the best position to succeed so yes how he acted is his responsability, and yes its the teams responsability for going to an ill suited defence without making sure that he was willing to do it. argue about how much he was paid all you like, the fact is the team made a huge misstep.

Well, I guess I'm a dummy, because was put in a position to succeed. He was put in position to PLAY FOOTBALL - the thing he was paid all that money to do, remember? Success can be seen in many different ways. Unfortunately to Fat Albert, success was viewed as personal stats and personal glory, not team success. Everything is ON HIM, with the lone exception of Shanahan not realizing what kind of person he was and shipping him to Tennessee in the preseason. I'm sick and tired of you giving that POS a free pass that he has no business getting!

Hahahahaha, what do football coaches get paid to do? I am curious what you think they are paid to do, I beleive they are paid to win games, and a large part of that is putting the right people in the right positions to play to the best of their ability.

You obviously have no clue about this stuff,. its been explained to you ad nauseum but because you hate the guy you are purposefully obtuse.

Blache misused several players, AH was asked to take on far more double teams than he should have been, Landry was used as a deep third FS rather than attacking the LOS at SS, now you do have some valid insights at times so this gives me hope that you can figure things out....

if Landry playing safety in one scheme can look like a bust and an inept player despite playing SAFETY, and then look like a very solid probowl type player in a scheme where he is used more aggressively, how in your mind do you not see that IF PUT IN POSITION TO SUCCEED ALBERT HAYNESWORTH WOULDNT HAVE MADE MORE PLAYS AS WELL.

argue that AH is a douche, I wont argue that, Argue that he is lazy I wont argue that, although he does make tackles in pursuit a lot for a huge guy, argue that he was paid an obscene amount of money, I wouldnt argue that either, but COMMON SENSE AND FILM BOTH DISPROVE YOUR ASSERTION THAT HE WAS PUT IN A POSITION TO SUCCEED. by your exact argument Landry was put in a position to succeed in the last year we ran a 4-3, how many people who actually watchg football do you think will agree with your argument?

does he get a free pass? hell no, but does Shannhan and the FO get a free pass, hell no lol.

Your comparison isn't valid, because you are comparing two very different situations. A strong safety vs. a free safety have vastly different responsibilities. A one-gap DT verse a two-gap DT are much more similar in what they are asked to do, and what they are able to do.

Also, its not like Landry wouldn't be GOOD as a free-safety if he could only not bite on the play action so much. He's got all the physical tools necessary to do the job.

EDIT: Interestingly enough, Sean Taylor did the same thing when he first got here (bit on the play action pass way too frequently). But, he got much better at it over the years, working at it like a professional football player SHOULD do.

Don't make pull this car over, young man. The whole point of this board is provide a place for Redskins fans to rise above that kind of personal stuff. How about it?

Om you are right, my bad.

Lanky , a free safety and a strong safety in most schemes are actually very different animals, and its actually a very apt comparison, a nose tackle and a 3tech are very very different beasts not many (as in almost noone) is good at playing both. They are not even remotely the same, one needs to be moving and upfield, one stands at the point and stacks blocks, very very different skillsets. or everyone would be able to make the switch.

I would argue that landry would never be a good free safety, his skillset determines that not just his seize speed ratio.
