That's a tough one. I think Cofield, Jenkins and Kerrigan all help out the defense. Hankerson will have a solid but probably not spectacular rookie campaign. I think Tim Hightower is a thousand yard back this year. So... I voted Cofield. I think he is going to be an animal.

I voted Atogwe. I see him as better than anything Landry has had back there since ST, and if Landry can get healthy, I think he has a monster season, largely due to Atogwe's presence.

Kerrigan and Jenkins got my vote. If I knew who our QB was going to be, I'd be tempted to vote Hankerson. I just have a feeling he's going to be a star.

I too thought about Hank, but WR so rarely come in and have immediate first year impacts. If he is solid, and ends up with 40-50 catches, around 600-700 yards, I think that is a pretty damned good rookie season.

    We can vote for two?

Like you, I believe Hankerson is our best addition. But I'm not sure we have the arm to get him the ball enough this year. That, and the fact that he's a rook with limited practices can't help.

I'll go Hankerson and Cofield. Kerrigan scares me.

I think you meant Sean Locklear not Tim, and I would be tempted to Vote Kerrigan if I could see him actually blitzing, I will go with Jenkins as long as we are playing him at end and he gets actual field time, otherwise I think Helu or hightower (whoever wins that battle) will have a big year.

Helu is a speed demon! Haven't heard much about how he looks in camp. Anybody heard anything? What about Royster?

Helu looked solid the day I saw him, but Hightower will start this season and likely could have the biggest impact if he isn't a fumble machine.

If it were surprise player, I would go with Donte Stallworth. If we had a star QB, I would say Stallworth has the biggest impact on offense. The guy really impressed me the other day. I didn't get the chance to see the defense the other day when I was there as much as the offense, but I did watch the receivers a lot. Stallworth will make this team and likely be our #2 receiver. He looked much better than any other receiver on the field. Hank was inconsistent, Paul looked serviceable and quite good at times.

On defense, I am going with Josh Wilson. We should get more pressure on the QB this season. Our D-line looks like they will have a bigger impact than last year, but Wilson will be the biggest benefactor of that pressure. Wilson shined the other day in 11 on 11 and could be what Carlos couldn't on this team, a solid corner who can actually catch the ball. I will bet he has in the range of 7-8 int's this year.

thats a good call, Wilson will get picks. I am worried about Hightower because this defence wont stop people very much and if we turn the ball over a lot via fumbles it will kill us, makes me say hmmmm. im turning into a conspiracy theorist lol

the question was biggest impact....not necessarily gaudiest stats

    I vote Cofield.

    - leadership in the locker room

    - intelligence

    - key position on D-line

    - major need position

    - enables better performances at the back end

I picked Otogwe. With Kerrigan alread nicked up I don't think he'll have the banner year we're hoping for. I think Hankerson will show why we picked him but won't have a breakout year until at least next year.

Possibly Jarvis Jenkins as I've heard good things so far. While the others will contribute to varying degrees I don't see any of them doing anything special or notably better than anyone else.

Unfortunately where we'd probably like to see great improvement, O-line, isn't likely to see much. I don't have faith that Locklear will do anything other than provide passable service.

I had two in mind, Helu and Stallworth but Helu wasn't on the list so I voted for Stallworth for one major reason.

He has a skillset that right now exceeds anything else we have at WR. Add to that the sense I have that he is driven to prove himself worthy of being a top-level WR in the NFL. Hankerson has a lot of potential but has "dropsies" problems at the moment-maybe later this season or next season for him.

Helu seems to be the kind of back the Redskins have sought but never quite found-the quick cut get to the second level and then just outrun everybody capability. Hightower has a lot of potential as dependable ball carrier to be used as a normal starter-if he doesn't fumble much of course-but Helu could develop into a serious threat I think.

Wilson and Otogwe will help the secondary a lot of course as will the OL and DL additions but I see them as more of a "get us to the level of at least being able to compete" where I see Helu and Stallworth as having the potential to actually scare other teams so I think of them as likely to have the biggest impacts.

I'm giving it a 2-4 year window. Looking for improvement in all areas. Redskins, you're on the clock.

You think? He might get the first carry of the season, so technically starts, but I doubt he gets the majority of carries. He was brought in as pass-pro, third down specialist IMO.

My top two were Otogwe and Cofield primarily for the reasons already cited by others. I finally settled on Cofield because if he's even passable at NT, it will improve what was a putrid defense last year to being middle of the pack.

In fairness though, it's really difficult to project results like this in a team sport, especially when there are so many new faces plus the familiarity that comes with a second year in the system for some. So for example if we get more interceptions this season, is that due to Otogwe, or an improved pass rush...or the loss of the gift of Stone Hands Rogers to opposing QBs, or just more guys being where they're supposed to be? Ditto that for our linebackers behind an improved DL.

Of course I was only there for one day, but he was the most solid RB out there, no matter what he was brought here to do. With Torain having 4 pins in his hand and Helu being...well, a 4th round pick, this is Hightower's position to lose from what I see. Some people have mentioned Davis, but he didn't impress me as much as the rook, and didn't even come close to as impressive as Hightower. Williams? Didn't make mistakes nor did he stand out.

I still say if we had an all-star QB Stallworth would be the most productive new addition to this team.

I hear ya. I just can't understand with the need Baltimore has at WR they let him go. I was never a fan of his throughout his career, maybe it was his professionalism and experience that made him look so much better than everybody else. But he was solid.

The more things change...the more they stay the same. It's like deja vu all over again.
