OK, sorry. Probably not helpful. I guess i just see this as an inconsequential distraction, not real sure why we are hyperventilating over it.

As for him shutting everyone else, what exactly would it take for everyone to STFU? Cause he has produced a birth certificate, and yet people are still raising a fuss. So what exactly will it take? The birthing nurse? A sworn affidavit from the OBGYN?

Right. Maybe he doesn't care, because it is so ridiculous that he doesn't want to waste time and encourage the tin foil hat wearing crowd by addressing it at all.

I actually hope he doesn't care about what you think, or what i think or what anyone thinks about this. I sure to hell hope he has better things to do every day than acknowledge this crap. He is the POTUS after all.

This statement was backed up up by the Republican Governor of the state. That, coupled with the fact that Obama provided the same type of birth certificate that I have on file for myself pretty much squashes it as a random rumor.

Some reporter dredging up two year-old interviews from some clerk who worked in the elections office for a few months and projecting his statements onto that of the current governor does not suddenly provide some magic bullet for me. It doesn't suddenly un-squash this silly issue.

The issue IS squashed. Find something better than a youtube audio clip of some guy making up third-hand information and I'll think about raising an eyebrow.

Obama's father was not an American citizen. That is the difference. Your insertion of the race issue is beyond the scope of absolute absurdity! All the other Presidents you mentioned did not have fathers from Kenya who were never American citizens!

I am not a birther but I think Mike has a point, this could be clarified and put to rest once and for all. Even if it doesn't have legs, why not produce the document and be done with it?

No, because the director of the Hawaii State Department of Health says it's squashed, and because the governor of Hawaii says it's squashed it is.

You may choose to think they are lying. I do not. See no reason for a GOP governor to make up such an enormous lie to protect a Democrat Presidential candidate. It doesn't make sense.

If it does to you, well, I suppose we are at an impasse.

In any case, nothing posted in this thread sheds new light on this subject. Other than perhaps someone made stuff up about Obama and Abercrombie to make it look like Obama's not really a citizen.

When he produces a birth certificate that looks like the one that other lady had in the Advertiser story, with the signatures of the doctors and such, then I'll shut up. Oh, and I mean the one from the vault, not some cheeso job like he put on his website

In the meantime, he has the highest job in the land. He needs to prove he's eligible to be there

Linda Lingle did not see the birth certificate. She took the word of the woman at the Department of Health.

Frankly,I don't belive her because she's Hawain and probably a Democrat. HAving lived there for three + years Ii can assure you that the good ol boy system is firmly in place. They get away with discrimination against white people and others that would have the ACLU spooging themselves here in the mainland. Hawaiins claim Obama as their own, they are proud of him and I beleve would do just about anything to protect him

Maybe Issa will subpena someone to verify her claim.

Also, Arizona is about to pass a law that Obama and everyone else is going to have to verify they are citizenship to get on the ballot there.

Guess if anything, we'll see in about a year

Henry, please directly explain the difference between the CERTIFICATE OF LIVE BIRTH that Obama posted on his website and the BIRTH CERTIFICATES that the lady had issued for her daughters the same time Obama was supposedly born
 
Lanky, I've been thinking about your race question all afternoon since i read it, and i don't think it's race. I hope it's not race, anyway. I think the far right is so against Obama they are desperate to besmirch him in any way they can. I think if he were white, they would be doing the same thing. I think they got tired of hearing how stupid W was when he was in office and decided to get even. Or they were so filled with vitriol from the way the Dems acted during the W presidency they are only now getting an outlet. It's a shame really, because no matter who is elected in 2012 the other side is going to feel slighted and continue the vicious circle. FS nailed it ithis thread or another: our politicians are failing us. Miserably. It's pathetic, really. And I don't see any stop to it anytime soon.

Well first of all, I asserted nothing. I simply put it out there, that its potentially a matter of race. And you cannot tell me that it is foolish to postulate that race may be involved. Maybe you've got blinders on, but racism is alive and well in this country.

Because its a very small portion of the population that actually believes this nonsense. If Obama addressed every single complaint from every single fringe-group of the population, he'd have no time to address the important things in this country.

I'm not sure I believe it either - at least not the primary motivation anyway. But I don't see it as "foolish" or out of the realm of possibility for it to be at least part of what's going on with this.

I want to read more. The only sources I could find using a quick Google search were:

The Examiner- National Conservative News, Rush Limbaugh.com, World Net Daily, Patriot Update, Free Republic, and InfoWars.

Can someone point me to any more balanced news sources than those to review. Considering that this is such a potentially explosive issue it must surely be being investigated by more.
 
LL, I don't think the suggestion is foolish, I just don't think that is the answer. Neither extreme partisanship nor racism is good for the country.

Sarge, as I stated, my kids have different birth certificates from when they were born. You can go to the department of vital records and request a new birth certificate that pre-empts the original. So it is entirely possible that his parents lost the original, and had this new one made up in it's stead. And if it was done several years later, it could look substantially different.

We have had to supply birth certificates for school and other things for our kids, and they (whoever they are) will not accept a photo copy, it has to be an original. At least two of kids original birth certificates are with the Chesterfield County School System due to our children's parents being forgetful morons. Which means that someday, we will have to order new birth certificates. Which means we better do it soon if they ever want to run for president, huh?

The whole thing is tiresome. Validation of base criteria to be President (age, citizenship, etc..) should be part of the process in order to run. Period. That we have elected a man, who at least theoretically, may not be a naturalized US citizen - that's just a pathetic vetting process at work.

There are good reasons for the criteria. And there are good reasons to adhere to it. I don't think Obama, whether he was born in Nigeria, Albania, Cuba, or New Jersey is part of a secret plot to destroy America. But starting with the premise that a naturalized citizen is less likely to have some secret destructive agenda has always made sense to me. So until the constitution is changed, we should probably require proof of basic qualifications - incontrovertible proof - BEFORE an election. Just a thought.

I think any candidate or President who had difficulty proving he/she meets basic qualifications would elicit unease (sure - more intensely from his opponents - but likely from most Americans).

Oh I know all of that. But let me tell you a little story. I laid it out on aother site three years ago and got called racist and everything else. But no onewas bothered to look at the facts because they were caught up drinking long sips of kool aid

When I retired I went to register Sarge Jr in school. I gathered up all his stuff, shot records, birth certificate etc. Everything the web site said to bring I brought.

When I was standing in the school office handing over documents, the lady asked for my son's birth certificate, and I handed it over. The lady said, "Can't take that" and I looked at her and said "Why not?". She said "We need your son's birth certificate. THAT is a certificate of LIVE BIRTH"

At that point I learned that they are two separate things. THey would not take the certificate of live birth for school registration. So I had to go all the way home and dig out his BIRTH CETIFICATE.

Now, if a school won't take a certificate of live birth to get in their system, why should we take it for the highest office in the land

I notice no one had answered the question. THe people at the Dept of Health said they have his long form. That's the one the lady is displaying, with the doctors signature an such

Where is it? Why the difference?

I'm with you here. He grew up overseas. That gives him a perspective that has been demonstrated to be less than American ie his snubbing of Israel, the Dahli Lama, England..........all traditional American allies. And he has demonstrated pro muslim tendencies as well

Sorry, I don't want my president doing that
