Last week I didn't repond and kept quiet. We won. So this week will refrain from published comments.

I would certainly prefer to win the toss for a change. I REALLY don't want to go on Defense first against a team that is averaging 26.5 ppg. Granted, they have piled on points against the likes of the Lions and Bills but a LOT depends on which Defense shows up, the one that played well against the Eagles or the one that was destroyed by the Texans and Rams.

I'm just glad we're at home and not playing on the thawed tundra.

Great job S.O. - very enjoyable to read Personally, I'll argue that if our defense doesn't play a lot better, we have little chance of pulling off a win.

    Get ready for it Goaldeje....

I give us hope because I think this is the game we get a couple of picks...Rogers and Hall have come close repeatedly this year, and I think they come into this game knowing it'll take an aggressive ball-hawking defense to give us a chance. Couple that with Rodgers aggressiveness (he plays like he can fit the ball in there every time, because he mostly can), and I see a couple of point-producing forced turnovers.

I think he learned that from Favre. Let's hope he tries to force it at the wrong time.

Rogers has come close his entire career. He'll get a pick when he gets the Clifford Franklin treatment

Thanks for the kudo's everyone and Mike would you expect anything less lol.... GB's LBs are aggressive in pursuit on outside runs ....if the zone blocking holds up we should have some solid cutback lanes....in my best field of dreams voice...."if you run...you will win"

In my 'Slaying Goliath' article I made the same case S.O. When the Redskins have beaten better teams over the past 5 years, it almost always been a commitment to the running game that got us there.

Boone, you call in' me out?

SO, nice post. I am actually excited to see what Torain brings to the table. I'm hoping he can help us establish a younger, more decisive running game. If we can control time of possession, and keep their team off the field, I think we have a chance. Everyone is focusing on their O vs. Our D, but I think the other matchup is more interesting. I have a feeling that if we run some two TE sets, we can neutralize Matthews to some extent and get the running game going, which will lead to the big shots downfield McNabb loves.

For what it's worth, Carlos Rogers is guaranteeing a pick (or at least catching the ball if it comes his way):

“If you think about it, I dropped an easy interception against Dallas,” Rogers said. “The next week against the Texans, I came back and got a pick. Against the Eagles I should have had another one, so that means I’m going to get one this week against Green Bay. If the ball comes my way and I’ve got the chance, I’m getting a pick this week. I guarantee it.”

I'll believe it when I don't feel like throwing something at my TV watching him drop yet another INT.

Something interesting about this game - talk around Green Bay is that Dom Capers is devising something new for the Packer defense. Not specifically for the Washington offense, but because of the banged up Green Bay defense.

My guess is Charles Woodson will be used in some hybrid capacity, whether as a safety or makeshift linebacker. I think Capers trusts Tramon Williams to go man up on Moss and the rest of the secondary can focus on stopping the remainder of the wideouts. That leaves Charles to take away Cooley or shadow McNabb. After all, the middle of the pass defense and scrambling QB's have been the weakness of the defense to this point, and Capers has got to do something to shore that up.

That, mind you, is pure speculation on my part but something is apparently brewing on the Green Bay defense.

I'd love to see Cooley and Woodson match up, great battle between the two of them. I don't know much about Tramon Williams, I'm afraid. Do you think he can check Moss? The problem with the Redskins this year is that if you take away Moss and Cooley, we're screwed. I would love to see Armstrong or Galloway step up, but neither has been targeted enough to make much of a difference so far.

Great job S.O.! I hope your prediction works in our favor.

So much talent at BGO - many writers who have a lot of talent. The best of the best. I truly enjoy what all you have to say on a daily basis. It helps to keep me informed and up to date on all things related to the Redskins.

Tramon Williams is solid. Not spectacular, but solid. Good hands and will make a play on the ball. He is a speedy DB who matches up well with the smaller, quicker WR's. He has been beaten by the bigger, more physical WR's.

Case in point, Reggie Wayne had a big night in the preseason against him (7-96, 1 TD), but that was just as much Manning and Wayne doing what they do as opposed to Williams being awful. Williams was where he needed to be for the most part; Wayne and Manning were just better. Dom intentionally left him one-on-one with Reggie to test his mettle. Said so after the game.

To answer your question - yes, I believe Williams is capable of manning up on Moss, although Moss won't be shut down. He'll have opportunities but I think McNabb will have to pick his spots and be accurate.
