    Default Doc Walker and AH

Doc just made a strong supportive statement for AH on WaPO Live. Doc spoke with AH..

    - the knee is inflamed...no fakery

    - he's learning the defense

    - AH is excited abt the defense and how he fits into it in multiple roles

    - AH has had problems with cartlidge in that knee in the past

intersting stuff that hasn't surfaced over the last several weeks.

Then again, Jason Reid is reporting Haynesworth's MRI shows no structural damage to his knee.

I STILL think he's just trying to find excuses NOT to take the test and it's just a battle of wills at this point.

ok...let's square some things away. I had some fat ass chiefs who worked for me who couldn't run the 1.5 let alone gassers. but they were worth their weight in gold for the tasks they were trained for....so don't push this one too hard!

It's GREAT news that the knee is OK but bad news, IMO, that he continues to use the knee as an excuse to NOT take the test.

I'll even give him the benefit of the doubt that he IS having a little trouble with the knee but I can't believe it's gone on THIS long that it's preventing him from doing the drill. Until he runs it, passes it and starts practicing, I'm calling "Shenanigans" on him.

not the way Doc was voicing it.

I don't know where ground truth falls...but the point Doc was making was that Haynesworth's attitude wasn't nearly as negative and destructive as many on this board seem to think. this based on an actual conversation with the guy.

who knows. we'll find out soon enough.

to reiterate: I see this as a challenge to get the most of this player as the team can this season (the moneys sunk....he's here for the duration of this season)...and in the mean time figure out what it will take to avoi the same drama next year.

In defense of AH, let's not forget that he had to get Synvisc injections in his knee last season. And had similar knee issues last year in camp (swelling).

What is Synvisc? Here you go

So, we know Haynesworth has had knee problems in the past and as one gets older they don't get better. Which would explain why Shanahan has taken this issue with caution (resting AH) and ordered the MRI.

That said, I also think it would be very naive to think Haynesworth isn't milking this as much as possible either as a test of wills with Shanahan or b/c he doesn't like to practice.
