    Team losing patience with Haynesworth

    By John Pappas
    Warpath Confidential Editor

It is rare that players in the NFL openly criticize one another. It does happen, but usually in the form of innuendo. And random enough that it is almost always a story in itself when it occurs. Even rarer are players on the same team who do so. They will imply. They will subtly suggest. But they are hardly ever openly critical of a teammate.

But this has changed with the continued absence and unfolding drama of Albert Haynesworth. No longer are players or the team willing to cover for the big man. Not after he decided to blow off a mandatory camp and let it be known he would like to play elsewhere.

“Albert has made a very selfish decision,” said London Fletcher. “When you decide to play a team sport, you have to look at it, and think about everybody involved in the situation. This is not golf, or tennis, where it is a ‘all-about-you’ kind of sport. What he’s decided to do is make a decision that’s all about him, and it is no different than his attitude on last year’s defense about everything being about, or wanting everything to revolve around him, and him making plays. And if it didn’t benefit him, he wasn’t really willing to do it.”

Harsh words from Fletcher, who is one of the most measured and respected players on the team.

It's gonna cost Al $21 mil to play for another team in 2010. And kudos to Fletcher for telling it like it is.

Fletcher is my kinda man and team player, total class. Can't say the same for Albert.

Don't agree with John though on the Shanahan comment. In business, you don't reveal your hand until all the cards are played. The deck is open on Albert now and Coach can tell you what went on before. He's also not going to tell you how they are going to handle this situation until they actually do it and that's the way it should be.

Players resolve issues in their own way.
