NFL.com PICK ANALYSIS: The Redskins made clear before the draft they were interested in acquiring some more depth at the receiver position, and Austin helped himself during the pre-draft process with an impressive pro day. Austin does not have the size typically preferred by Mike Shanahan, and is extremely thin, but he can potentially earn a roster spot if he shines as a slot receiver or returner in training camp.

LOL, you might want to change the headline to Terrence Austin. ;)

* facepalm *

Thanks brother. Long day.

You know it! And besides the draft you know the next thing we'll be wondering aloud about will be UDFA's. ;)

For the record, I am not doing one of these epic threads for each UDFA.

Obsession, apparently, has its limits.

Guy didn't returned a kick or punt for a score in college, but he's going to try and be the Redskins returner?

Look at his 'long' returns though brother - in light of that, the fact that he didn't return them for scores looks more like a fluke than a problem... I can certainly see why they drafted him on potential late in the draft...

I did some digging on Terrence Austin and discovered another stat that makes me feel better about him as a WR and kickoff/punt returner.

He doesn't seem to have a lot of fumbles. In his time at UCLA he had 23 rushes, 109 pass receptions, 95 punt returns, and 89 kickoff returns. And a total of 10 fumbles.

That's 316 touches of the ball and 10 fumbles-one fumble every 31-32 times he handled the football-we've seen worse.

He averaged 6.7 yards on punt returns and 24 yards on kick returns.

Not too impressive.

This guy looks like a long-shot to stick even on the practice squad.

I've heard he's not a dynamic guy. Long shot to make the roster I think.

And welcome back, Bulldog.

the stats in the box in the first post don't match up with the numbers I saw in a reference to his UCLA bio.

the punt return numbers were a lot lower for average than the high 9's we see here.

if these numbers are accurate and he has been in the 9-13 range on PRs then he may have the quickness necessary to be a factor here.

But again the averages I read included a 6.7 for punts.

And that if true isn't going to inspire confidence for his performance at the next level.
