Didn't we originally pick up Byron Marshall after he got cut by Philly? Now we replace him with another Philly cast-off, although this one definitely makes sense.

Yep, we have traded backup players with the Eagles for the past couple of years. The Eagles signed Nate Sudfeld from Washington as you might recall.

Smallwood is a much better NFL player than Perine or Marshall.

Redskins have signed DT Treyvon Hester. And have signed LB Chris Odom to the Practice Squad.

Hester is 6'2", 304 lbs and was released by the Eagles to make room for another DT they picked up prior to last season by trading their last pick in the 2017 draft to Oakland. He is reportedly fast for a big guy. He actually played on Philly's ST quite a bit, blocked a FG attempt last year for them. Some Eagles fans are chirping that he is better and out performed the guy who took his spot, Hassan Ridgeway.

Sounds like a decent signing.

Why we signed Odom is a mystery. He has played both LB and DL. He was undrafted in the 2017 draft and has bounced around 3 NFL teams and an AAF squad before joining the Skins practice squad.
