    Default Socialism: The New Left

Just saw the statistic that suggests 40% of all Americans believe socialism is the best way forward for the USA. I think that stat is probably a bit of a stretch, used by supporters to suggest it's great, used by the opposition to scare their base.

However, even if that number is over zealous, it is rather concerning that socialism is gaining ground as a viable means of governing over a system that has done more in the history of mankind to even the playing field than any other, capitalism.

    It boggles my mind.

Fan started calling it the fairness doctrine 6 or 7 years ago, that the levers being put into place were directing us toward socialist systems, as we argued the merits of the ACA. Here we stand with a new group of freshman legislators and they're preaching socialism and their supporters are eating that s**t up like it's chocolate ice cream.

The left may have won by focusing more on the local school boards across the country than the legislators in position to pass laws. The school boards have been passing curriculum that steers this narrative of utopia.

    I'm scared for my children.

It is a bit un-nerving. But, look at what is being offerred up as the socialist alternative. It's all vaporware.

In the end, El, this is all about the wealthy elite and those who are funded by them working overtime to sustain their privileges and power. They will fail in the end. The only question, in my mind, is how much damage will be inflicted and who will be held accountable when the proverbial dust settles.

Out of curiosity, where did that statistic come from? I haven't seen a number that high...except on like a university campus or something similar.

I'm always so skeptical of studies, as the questions asked can so heavily influence the response, and they are always asked with an agenda.

Found it. Gallup poll. Question was "Would some form of socialism be a good thing or a bad thing for the country as a whole?".

Given that we already have some forms of socialism in place, that people like having (social security, medicare are only the 2 most famous), it is understandable why many people would say yes to that question.

I have the feeling the answers would be different to a question such as "do you think the United States becoming a socialist country such as Venezuela or China".
