Default Skins Sign S Landon Collins

    March 14, 2019

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The Washington Redskins announced today that they have signed safety Landon Collins. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Collins (6-0, 222) is a four-year NFL veteran who entered the league as a second round selection, No. 33 overall pick by the New York Giants in the 2015 NFL Draft.

Collins has started all 59 regular season games in which he has appeared and one postseason game for the Giants since the 2015 season. He has recorded eight career interceptions during the regular season for 93 yards to complement 428 tackles (321 solo), 32 passes defensed, 4.0 sacks, three forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.

In addition to three consecutive Pro Bowl selections (2016, 2017 and 2018), Collins has appeared in one playoff game in which he started and registered nine tackles (6 solo), one sack, and two passes defensed.

Last season, he recorded four passes defensed, 96 tackles (67 solo) and one forced fumble.

In 2017, Collins started in at least 15 games for the third consecutive season, finishing first on the team with 99 tackles and second with two interceptions. He was named to his first career Pro Bowl in 2016 and earned All-Pro honors from the Associated Press after leading the team with a career-high five interceptions.

At the end of the 2016 season, Collins set a career high with a team-leading 125 tackles (100 solo) and recorded a career-best four sacks, the most by a Giants safety in a season. For his rookie season in 2015, he played and started in all 16 contests of the season. Since entering the league in 2015, Collins’ 428 tackles are the most among safeties in the NFL in that time span.

Collins played collegiately at Alabama and was a consensus All-America selection in 2014 as a junior.

Collins, 25, attended Dutchtown H.S. in Geismar, La. where he earned USA Today High School All-America honors in 2011. He was born January 10, 1994.

Another good move. At a much needed position.

I don't care about price. Although it seems to be a well designed contract.

I just want at least one safety that can knock the snot out of people.

    He looks like THAT guy.
