I don't understand this. They have had Quick on the team the past 2 years and only caught 9 passes. He must be a great practice player, because they don't even use him in games. Why keep bringing him back if they aren't even going to use him.

I think he's just a body - camp fodder as they say. I would be surprised if he's on the 53 man roster.

Craig Hoffman said this report is 100% inaccurate a few hours ago. Hoffman is the best source of Skins news, reports, and breaking stories out there. Jsteelz backed it up at about the same time.

In fact, Jay is more involved with this aspect of the off-season than ever.

That sports junkies guy ought to be run off Twitter and unfollowed by every Redskins fan for posting that shit. There is literally zero accountability any more. Any asshat who wants to can smear anyone they like with impunity.

Right on, good to know. I just googled redskin rumors and that popped up so figure I would share it. Gee whiz type of post, wasn't meant as gospel.

All good brother

Edit: Now we can get Elephant's guy at 15 and OL depth with one of the 3rds. This kid is like a younger Reed, except in honkey

hmmmm...I'd rather Callahan be the primary coach consulted on o-line hires.

Re: Burner's Burning Questions: Free Agency, Mocks, Camps, OTAs, Roster Predictions,

Since when has the media been fair on how they report the Redskins, whether locally or nationally? I mean within the recent future. And by fair I mean actually correct on what they report? It seems their only job is to push as much drama as possible. I think back to the RG3/Shanny days and yes it appears there was a major issue but how much of that issue was driven by the media just driving the needle further into the vein just for the sake of doing so? I don't use twitter and pretty much get the majority of my Redskins news here so luckily I don't here much of the diatribe and I rarely watch ESPN except for live sports because of the drivel they are, plus that trying to mix politics into sports pisses me off. Now onto the Flowers signing, big body, lets see what Callahan can get out of him, if he can fill the LG spot at a reasonable level and stay healthy, AP and Guice (pending he's full go) going to have some running lanes.

Re: Burner's Burning Questions: Free Agency, Mocks, Camps, OTAs, Roster Predictions,

Will losing a future compensatory draft pick by signing Wreck Flowers (if reports are true) harm our chances to be comp pick champions?

Burner's Burning Questions: Free Agency, Mocks, Camps, OTAs, Roster Predictions, 2019

Greetings from BBQ to everyone in BGO land and guests from social media – we hope you become a member here.

Today, we bring you the latest guest mock of the off-season and it comes from a Redskins fan and pundit – Robbie Duncan of Redskins Capital Connection where he is a contributor and analyst. He provides detailed insights on the Redskins and you can catch him cheering for the DC area sports teams. Robbie also played Division I football for Old Dominion University where he was an offensive lineman.

I contacted Robbie a couple of weeks ago and he enthusiastically accepted the invitation to share a mock with us for a second straight year. After reading his mock last night, I was very impressed with the picks and the detailed scouting reports. He understands the game and knows what the Redskins need. We're grateful that Robbie has shared some of his vast knowledge with us today.

BBQ will continue the guest mocks each week until early next month and we will feature a Redskins fan/mock specialist. It became a popular feature last year and we are happy to bring it back to BGO.

In this mock from Robbie, he looks across the college football landscape for several prospects that could help the Redskins become a better team. I enjoyed looking at his mock and I hope you will enjoy it as well.

Without any further delays, let's take a look at Robbie's mock.

Robbie's Seven Round Mock:

Round 1- Pick 15: Brian Burns, Edge, Florida State
Following the loss of Preston Smith to the Green Bay Packers, there is a glaring hole at edge. Are the Redskins comfortable enough with Ryan Anderson filling in as the starter and maybe drafting a lower round edge guy to back him up? That would not be as ideal in my humble opinion. Brian Burns is an elite pass rusher prospect in this draft class. He brings speed off the edge and incredible athleticism to the OLB position. A guy like Burns would be a tremendous addition to the Redskins front seven with Jonathan Allen, Daron Payne, and Matt Ioannidis bringing the heat up the middle and Ryan Kerrigan opposite of him. QB could likely be the pick here if someone like Drew Lock or Dwayne Haskins is on the board, but this would be my personal preference.

Round 2- Pick 46: Erik McCoy, iOL, Texas A&M
Erik McCoy is one of my favorite offensive linemen prospects in this draft. He's got incredible tape against top competition (Alabama's Quinnen Williams for example) and tested really well at the Combine as well. He plays with great fundamentals, moves really well, is strong, and good at anchoring against powerful interior pass rushers. McCoy played Center for A&M but I believe he'd transition to guard fairly easily. He's a plug and play instant starter, would be a great value pick in the 2nd round, and also fills a big need.

Round 3- Pick 76: Emanuel Hall, WR, Missouri
The Redskins clearly have a need at WR and some would rather that position be addressed earlier than the 3rd round but there are some really interesting prospects that can be had in the middle rounds. Hall is one of those more interesting guys. He had a tremendous showing at the combine measuring in at 6'2 201lbs, ran 4.39 40 yard dash, 43.5 vertical jump, and a 141” broad jump. He's a true deep threat with the speed to take the top off the defense. He does need to improve in some areas but he's got a lot of potential.

Round 3- Pick 96: Will Grier, QB, West Virginia
The trade for Case Keenum won't be the final QB acquisition of the offseason and it's only a matter of when the Redskins will draft one. Granted they could still end up trading for Josh Rosen from the Cardinals, if the Cardinals really are planning on picking Kyler Murray that is. Will Grier in the 3rd round is pretty decent value, in my opinion. He's an aggressive passer with not as strong of an arm as you'd like but he's fun to watch. I wouldn't anticipate him starting as a rookie but I think he could be groomed into a starter.

Round 5- Pick 153: Foster Moreau, TE, LSU
Jordan Reed isn't reliable to be available most of the time due to injury concerns, Vernon Davis isn't getting any younger, and Jeremy Sprinkle hasn't proved to be more than a blocking TE in a reserve role. While Moreau may not be a future TE1 on a team, he does bring toughness and blocking ability to the Redskins TE group which has been a need for a couple of years now.

Round 5- Pick 173: Malik Gant, S, Marshall
Gant is a heat seeking missile with exceptional tackling skills. He may not be a true “center fielder” FS with the ball skills you'd like, he has decent enough range and is fantastic at run support and making WR's pay for crossing the middle of the field. Some of the most fun film I've watched this draft season. His play style would also be a welcome addition to the Redskins special teams.

Round 6- Pick 206: Devine Ozigbo, RB, Nebraska
Running back isn't that much of a need this year with the re-signing of Adrian Peterson along with Derrius Guice and Chris Thompson in the rotation as well. With Guice going into year 2 off of a torn ACL, it wouldn't hurt to look for some depth just in case. Ozigbo displays a ton of traits that you like in a running back: contact balance, vision, and elusiveness. His 6'0 230lbs frame on top of that is a nice cherry on top.

Round 7- Pick 227: Mitch Hyatt, OT, Clemson
The Redskins OL needs as much depth as it can get with the way they drop like flies due to injuries the past two seasons. Hyatt is inconsistent as a player and has a lot of struggles, but playing in a big time program like Clemson and against top competition makes him a more interesting prospect this late in the draft. He could be a guy to stash on the practice squad and work on his development for the future.

Round 7- Pick 253: Saivion Smith, CB, Alabama
I didn't forget to draft an Alabama player! The Redskins could still add more competitive depth to the cornerback position. Smith brings toughness to the position and would be an intriguing developmental guy that could possibly be stashed on the practice squad assuming young corners already on the Redskins like Greg Stroman and Danny Johnson continue to improve.

BBQ's Thoughts:

Thanks to Robbie Duncan for all of his research and a superb look at what the Redskins could do in the draft. He put a lot of thought and work to this mock – thank you, Robbie. Feel free to comment on any aspect of what he mocked to the Redskins.

BBQ will have another mock draft on Friday and next week we go to two mocks.

I think you have to take with a grain of salt which players get used on game-day. Norval Gruden would have sat Jerry Rice in his prime if he had a hard-on for MalCOMB Kelly.
