Burner's Burning Questions: Free Agency, Mock Drafts, Camps, Roster Predictions, 2018
Greetings from BBQ to everyone here at BGO. We hope you are having a good week. Hello to everyone on social media. We'd love to have you as a member here and become a part of the family.
OTAs, mini-camp, rookie camp, and the draft have passed into the history books. Training camp will be here in five weeks. We'll continue to cover it all and give everyone at BGO the best coverage possible.
BBQ continues our off-season evaluations. We will examine the various positions and give an assessment. Today we feature the cornerbacks and later this week we will look at the safeties. We'll post an evaluation next week for the special teams unit.
Let's get right to it!
Cornerbacks:
Josh Norman
The biggest compliment an opposing quarterback can give a cornerback is to throw very few passes in that direction. Such is the fate of Josh Norman. Look for Norman to have another stellar year.
With a vastly improved defensive line, look for Norman to have five interceptions and a pro bowl season.
Quinton Dunbar
Is Dunbar ready to take the next step? It has been an amazing climb for the undrafted receiver. He embraced the change to corner and never looked back.
He should have six interceptions, but also give up two long touchdowns in 2018.
Fabian Moreau
Moreau is likely to start in the slot, but a very good training camp and preseason could vault him ahead of Quinton Dunbar and start opposite of Josh Norman. If he is the slot corner, look for the UCLA product to have a solid sophomore campaign.
Moreau could have two interceptions, but struggle in the first half of the season with talented tight ends. He should improve as the season progresses.
Orlando Scandrick
Look for Scandrick to take on the “Will Blackmon†role in 2018 – a steady veteran presence and replacement for any players who might be injured. Could step into a starting role if Dunbar or Moreau struggles.
Greg Stroman
Stroman may not make the roster of fifty-three, but he could make the final cut as a punt returner and a backup corner. At the very least, he will be a member of the practice squad.
Josh Holsey
He could be heading to the practice squad. Holsey is not known for having special teams skills and that could hurt him as he fights for a roster spot.
Other Cornerbacks
Kenny Ladler, Ranthony Texada, and Danny Johnson are all fighting for spots on the practice squad.
There is our latest look at roster positions this off-season. On Friday we will look at the safeties. Next week we will focus on special teams.
Have a great week.
Hail To The Redskins!
