The guy has definite weaknesses, but I'd rather have Chicken Fried than not. Curious that there wasn't much traffic around him.

Another NT gone

Bennie Logan or Bust now?

It's definitely time for either some Vel Vita, or house of Payne!

Burner's Burning Questions: Free Agency, Mock Drafts, Camps, Roster Predictions, 2018

Greetings from BBQ. We hope your week is going well. Free Agency has arrived with a flurry of activity and that should continue for the remainder of this week.

OTAs, the draft, mini camps, and training camp will be here before you know it, but we're talking free agency now and all the trades, re-signings, tags, releases, new free agents, and re-worked contracts are becoming known.

Who will we target in free agency? Who will we re-sign? Who will we not re-sign? Who will get released? Feel free to offer your opinions and predictions.

We take the latest chatter from Redskins Park and media pundits as BBQ tries to formulate what could happen in the coming days, weeks and months.

Su'a Cravens, SS – (Cap Savings, $1.36M – Dead Cap, $1.7M)

Offseason Updates:
Multiple reports suggest that the Redskins are looking to trade Su'a Cravens.

Kirk Cousins to the Vikings. Reports suggest he will received a fully guaranteed $84M contract for three years.

The new cap for 2018 is $177.2M.

As you know we ended the process of listing free agents from other teams, but this offseason is full of unpredictability. We will list some players of interest this year, but it won't be a comprehensive list and there is no way we can sign all of them.

Luke Joeckel, OG
Preston Brown, ILB
Jon Bostic, ILB
Benson Mayowa, DE
Sheldon Richardson, DT/DE
Bennie Logan, DE/DT
Dominque Rodgers-Cromartie, CB

This list will grow, shrink, and change quite a bit. Feel free to produce a list of your own – we look forward to it.

With the new extension for Alex Smith as he joins the Redskins, we have learned that the total deal is for five years (four year extension).

Personal Thoughts:
While it is tough to lose Kendall Fuller, the quarterback position is now settled for the next few years.

BBQ believes that if Su'a Cravens is not traded, Bruce Allen will hold on to him until the final cuts.

See you as we go along.

Hail To The Redskins!

Zach Brown signing is good we needed that.

As it stands now, the Redskins would have the following comp picks in 2019:

3rd for Cousins.
5th for Long.
5th for Murphy.
7th for Paul.

The Redskins are letting the right players go in free agency.

With a big contract for Kerrigan and Smith needing a new deal next year the Redskins were not going to pay $7-8M a year for 3 years to Trent Murphy.

Grant and Long as Cooley likes to say are just ‘guys'.

You don't pay players like this a big premium to stay.

Watch what New England and Green Bay do.

They let former picks walk if they can't fit the salary into their structure.

The only players these teams max out are pro bowlers and those with the talent to be that in the near future.

Now that we have resigned Brown who was a pro bowler in 2016, who did we let walk that was so outstanding AND wanted to be here?

Cousins and Breeland didn't want to be here regardless of the money.

Both took less than what was anticipated to sign with their new teams.

I have to say it again, but I'm quite impressed with the professional manner in which the Redskins front office is handling the early part of the free agency period.

Dontari Poe is reportedly getting 9 to 10M per year from the Panthers. While there was reported interest on the part of the Redskins, that exactly the type of move we would have made years ago at a position of significant need. Throw a bandaid on it with a guy moving close to 30 years of age and it'll all be better so to speak. In numerous instances with guys who signed elsewhere this season, it seemed as though we showed really good discipline, were set on a number, and basically told FAs, take it or leave it.

I like that we've maintained some continuity and stability among the LB group by managing to bring Brown back at a reasonable number, as well as Foster.

Being cautious money-wise at LB and in the defensive secondary can potentially set us up well moving into the future when we have to commit big dollars to some of our pass rushers and players upfront on both sides of the ball (e.g., Allen, Preston Smith possibly if he can find more consistency, Scherff, etc).

All signs seem to be pointing towards a big body up front on the defensive line in the draft :D Da'Ron Payne, come on down!

I'd definitely offer Grant a modest contract to return now that the Ravens have backed out of their deal. He is a very solid #4 WR - good hands, runs great routes. He's a good WR, just not a top 3 guy due to average speed and physicality.

I'd still consider bringing in Suh for a year for the right price, if he hasn't signed yet.

Tell me how you really feel. :onthego:

I think sometimes you just like to light the dumpster fire just to see if someone's gonna bring the marshmallows :)

I get in my moods. Been trolling the s hit out of some Ravens fans about Ryan Grant...looks like Gruden is going to get His man back.

Watch, Ryan Grant signs with us and has 78 catches this upcoming season with 11 TD's. Then I will go back to those Ravens fans and laugh at them, then tell them I told you so!

In all seriousness, at 31 Suh is better than all but 1 of our DL. Looks like we're leaning toward that position in the draft, but we still need some help along that line and Suh would be a very solid rotational DL. If not him, we still need help along our DL and a 1st round pick won't be enough.
