Free Agency, Mock Drafts, Camps, Roster Predictions, 2018

Letting Breeland walk for the type of money he signed for in Carolina is very telling. I think it eludes to a few things...

a) We're pretty confident in the ability of Dunbar to play opposite Norman on a week to week basis.
b) We think that Moreau could eventually blossom into the type of player Fuller was with a season or two of grooming and more playing time.
c) Internally, the organization is high on Norman's ability to still play at a high level.
c) Ultimately, I think it suggests that we really didn't like Breeland and the inconsistencies in his game (he just doesn't strike me as being a winner).

I'd personally like to see DRC brought in on a short term deal. It could help bridge the gap and allow the likes of Holsey and Moreau to grow into their positions to a point where they can make solid contributions down the road.

Much like the receiving corps, I think our defensive backfield could still benefit from some more veteran presence.

Ultimately, if trying to be responsible financially in the defensive backfield means a strong emphasis up front along the defensive line (especially in the early rounds of the draft and possibly one veteran contributor in FA), I'm okay with that. It's been a long time since that's been our approach, but I think it's the right approach if that is in fact what the front office is thinking. Who knows - keeping my fingers crossed.

I think you're missing the most important factor in losing Breeland - he didn't want to be here :)

I guarantee you it would've cost a lot more than that to retain him in DC, and it was irrelevant because I think he kind of went through enough embarassing growing pains here that he wanted a fresh start. It's probably for the best for all involved.

Btw - update on DRC - rumor is that he is at dinner with coaches, so those discussions are not yet dead.

Another one bites the dust

I didn't want that undisciplined **** anyway. Sheldon Richardson in the guy we want.

And Ryan Grant no longer a Redskin.

Good. Maybe Robert Davis can get on the field now...

That's more than we're paying for Paul Richardson when you add in the signing bonus. He's not worth that kind of money.

Yeah, so far the ones who have gotten away aren't worth what these other teams are paying them.

Gruden is on suicide watch.

**snort** First thing I thought was "Ryan Gruden gone."

Sometimes we need our toys taken away from us for our own good.

Yeah, let's just hope the reason he never lived up to Gruden's hype was because it was just Gruden's hype. And not because the QB wasn't seeing him wide open all the time.

Apparently the Redskins need to find players that will accept food stamps.

Spencer Long to the Jets.

Patriots and Bucs fighting over Trent Murphy.

Without a ton of draft picks to replace these people, are Dan and Bruce even awake right now?

What a weird off season so far, but there's some stupid money being thrown around early, nothing wrong with a wait and see approach sometimes, then again, we wait and see every year.

Can anyone think of a reason why Galette would come back?

I'd be out of here in two seconds if in his shoes.

We need to resign Scherff to an extension which now looks very expensive. With Williams and Moses already on second contracts, we can't afford to pay top money to all 5 starters on the OL.

With these three as the ‘core' we need to fill in at center and left guard with draft picks and veteran free agents at the low-mid tiers.

We can't pay a guy like Lauvao $5M a year to play LG.

Chase Rouillier at $650K to play center?

That's what we need to find and continue finding 😎

Three years, $21m for a guy coming off both a PED violation and torn ACL.

That deal is absurdly stupid.
