Our 2018 starting QB will be....

Thank God.

Mannnnn im safe! I ain't get traded.

--Kendall Fuller

CB Kendall Fuller is the player that made the trade for Alex Smith possible. Chiefs view Fuller as a bonafide starter, to go along with the third-round pick they're getting.

@AdamSchefter

Kendall Fuller is indeed the player that the Redskins are sending to Chiefs along with the third-round pick. Chiefs fleece Skins. Fuller is the second-best CB on the team behind Josh Norman.

--@MikeJones

Also, a very "classy" move by Bruce to let Fuller find out about it on social media if true.

No one could possibly be this stupid. This isn't true, is it?

Absolutely horrific move to trade Fuller.

@MarkBullock

Please tell me this didn't just happen.

WTMF?!?!

Why couldn't it have been Cravens or a meh guy?

Fire Bruce. There's nothing left to say. That's it.

The 3rd rounder is a push since we'll get that back for Kirk. But Fuller tho? Shit makes no sense at all

I guess this a trade the Skins had to make.I just hope it does not turn out like the last trade we made with Andy Reid to acquire McNabb who was the same age as Smith.My gut tells me Alex has alot of good football, ahead of him. I hated giving up Kendall Fuller. Maybe we can sign his brother Kyle who is a free agent. Good football family.Thank You Kirk for giving us YOU LIKE THAT ( LOL) and a whole lot more. I wish him nothing but the best. I have a feeling he is going to end up in Denver.

I would have never traded Kendall. He can play inside & outside, he's high character, young & a football player.

Shit breaks on Twitter all the time - unfortunate if it went down that way but it could easily have been leaked by someone outside the Redskins org (this deal didn't just happen in a couple of hours). I would be hesitant to blame the Redskins FO unless i knew for a fact it was their fault. Just sayin'...

You guys crack me up.

So, for starters... When you trade for another team's player, particularly a proven, vet QB, you actually have to give the other team something in return.

The 3rd rounder is not a huge deal. Shedding Cousins will ensure we get a compensatory pick - probably a 3rd rounder. So that's essentially a wash. So basically, we traded Kendall Fuller for Alex Smith.

Smith is essentially a carbon copy of Cousins. Yeah - he's what, 3 or 4 years older? But he's still got 4+ years of play ahead of him - correct? As we just found out - keeping any QB beyond a 4-5 year contract is a dubious proposition. I'm actually excited that we will be bringing in a guy who we know is a pretty good QB and who will be committed to a long contract in his prime. People talk about Smith like he's some scrub because he hasn't won in the playoffs. Because we all know, it's all on the QB to win in the playoffs.

I like that we were decisive and made a call now so we can move forward and prepare for the draft.

Yes - we gave up a talented corner. Finding a talented corner is a hell of a lot easier than finding a legitimate starting QB. Period. If we were excessively worried about the roster hole we just created, we now have a first round pick that we can use on a corner or a top defensive player.

Bottom line - if the FO decided Alex Smith was going to be the best option, that's going to cost something. Kendall Fuller is what it cost.

We don't know the real contract dollars yet, so those insinuating on Twitter that Kirk would've accepted whatever Smith will be signed for - or that the 'savings will be minimal' - that's just nonsense. Cousins clearly doesn't want to be here and there's no way we were going to be able to afford him. This will save us a big chunk of cap space, space that people haven't yet thought through and which may allow us to sign guys like Zach Brown.

I really think we should keep an open mind here. This may work out pretty nicely.

Well I'd never have drafted Matt ****ing Jones and Sua 'I don't wanna play' Cravens. But that's just me.

My initial reaction is we just signed a Kirk Cousins clone to less money than Kirk Cousins. I need to think a little more if it's Kendall Fuller leaving how it might impact that thought, but overall from a QB perspective I think it's a wash.

I actually think Smith is a better QB right now. He certainly plays smarter - guy rarely makes an ill-advised throw or bad decision. The same is not true for Cousins. Only advantage Cousins has is being a few years younger. Smith's arm is underrated - he can rifle it. Has a better deep ball than Cousins too.

Smith seems like a Jay Gruden wet dream to me. He made Andy Dalton look capable. Can't wait to see what he does with Alex Smith.
