Our 2018 starting QB will be....

Well, there's no way if I am the owner I am paying Cousins $34M if Tom Brady is earning $22M and the best quarterback in the division, Carson Wentz, is on a rookie deal for peanuts that will allow the Eagles to continue to add free agents and trades the next 2 years.

Just because some dumb decisions are made by guys like McNair in Houston (Osweiler) and Bischiotti in Baltimore (Flacco) to pay franchise deals to players that are less than franchise performers doesn't mean I have to follow suit.

Going back and thinking about a lot of these big contracts, the ones that tend to work out are the ones where a team, say Green Bay, already has a proven passer in Aaron Rodgers and they are merely resigning him to a long-term deal to keep his salary consistent with the trends in the market.

Ditto for the deals several years ago for Drew Brees in New Orleans and Ben Roethlisberger in Pittsburgh.

Where you see a guy get paid on the basis of strictly regular season stats or one 'hot' run in the playoffs, etc. you end up with the albatross contract like the one Ozzie Newsome has had to deal with in Baltimore for Joe Flacco. He hasn't been able to retain any of his higher tier veterans as they hit their walk years.

Guys like Osemele end up going to the pro bowl for another club.

Don't want to see that here.

I think this weekend has been the first step in the market correction for QB's I've been saying is due.

Outside of New England it's the coming back into vogue of the stingy defense, franchise running game and game manager quarterbacks.

Dallas really helped to get this restarted with the big offensive line and Ezekiel Elliott blasting teams off the ball to allow a rookie passer in Dak Prescott to pick his spots to exploit the defense and not get exposed.

Whoever he is, he's currently on the Vikings roster.

...This past weekend I told my father in law at half time that the Chiefs were gonna lose, and he laughed at me. Andy Reid is one of the worst 2nd half coaches in history. He's always been a postseason struggle, so how much of that was Smith and how much was Reid?...

Personally, I would put that one squarely on Mayor McCheese. Reid has always depended too much on his "script" and neglects in game adjustments to his detriment. To be fair, though, Marty Schottenheimer struggled just as much and with arguably better seasonal (non playoff) results. I agree that given the choice I would opt for regular season success over occasional brilliance every time.

Tagging him is very low risk imho - there are a bevy if teams desperate for a QB of his caliber. And tagging him is the only way we get compensation for him.

I agree, but I would hate to see the quandary this puts us in NEXT year when we face the same &*#$!% situation again. I am as big a KC supporter as anyone in this fanbase, but at this point I am beginning to see the writing on the wall. (Hey Ax, as my pappy would say, I'm a size 50 coat and a size 3 hat, so no affirmations please). Let the man get his mega riches, lets (SIGH) start anew with (SIGH) Colt, and hope like hell we can use the freed up monies to do something about the rest of the respective units.

I think the Skins have priced themselvesI out of the Kirk Cousins sweepstakes. I think we will draft someone like Mason Rudolph and Colt will be our stater next year. I think the offense will be fine either way. That is Gruden's forte. His problem is the defense. If they do not make the playoffs ( PLAYOFFS) LOL next year, Gruden will be gone. That Saints game made me ill. It showed me we have a long way to go to fix that defense.Blowing that big lead was unacceptable. Manusky should have been fired after that game.I think we should go back to the 4-3 defense. Kerrigan and Preston Smith can do what they do best, rush the passer.Allen and Ionnandis could man the middle. Hopefully we can resign Zach Brown to play middle linebacker and Ryan Anderson can emerge on the left side.We will just need a RLB which we could get via the fraft or fee agency. Maybe even Foster or Gallete could fill that spot. If I was Gruden, I would hire a defensive consultant like Steve Spagnola or Chuck Pagano and let the other defensive coaches know, they are on Notice ( especially Manusky) Competetion can work in coaching, also. Philly was 7-9 last year ( like us) and are now in the Super Bowl. They acquired Tim Jernigan ( I wanted the Skins to draft him in 2014) and Alshon Jefferry and Ajayi plus drafted Barnett. They have had key injuries also ( Wentz and Thomas) but that did not stop them.Snyder needs to hire another GM to replace McCloughan, who can make these smart moves.Vince Tobin in Cincinnatti or the director of player personnel for the Patriots ( his name escapes me now, I believe it is Nick Carresi would be wise choices. One good thing about Jay starting his 5th season as coach is that nobody has ever made it that far, since Snyder took over.Hopefully he will be our coach for a long time. My advise to you, Mr. Gruden is : Defense, Defense, Defense. Happy New Year, Everyone. Hail to the Redskins.

Maybe Ax would like to tell us how our Front Office isn't all that bad?

It's like no hand is on the rudder.

Alex Smith can't win in the post season(the knock on Kirk, right?) but yet we're trading for him AND giving him an extension?

This is sooo funny, you can't make it up. Had the Chiefs had Cousins, Bruce would've traded for him.

In fact, he just traded for his carbon copy.

It had to be a trade. What are we giving up, I'm afraid to ask.

Good luck, Kurt. Break a leg.

Deja vu all over for Andy Reid, it's Donovan McNabb all over again! 🤦

Only this franchise will give a 33 year old QB a four-year contract extension worth $94 million with a whopping $71 million in guarantees... ridiculous!

This team is piloted by knuckle dragging morons

If we just gave up Kendall Fuller I'm going postal.

Step 1: Don't wait for a team like the Vikings to let a QB walk.

Step 2: Guarantee Kirk's 34 year old twin $70 million.

Step 3: Give the Chiefs a 3rd round pick.

Step 4: Throw a young Kendall Fuller in just because.

Step 5: Let Breeland walk and turn a team strength into a gaping hole.

Great work Bruce. You're the man.
