Keep your friends close. And your enemies closer.
Las Vegas Rayduhs fans are a pretty confident, cocksure bunch. It's understandable given their recent history and success. The Rayduhs are coming off a 12-4 2016 campaign, and despite last year's 14-27 Wildcard loss to the Texans, their fans are confident their team is enroute to dominance. Much of that confidence stems from their belief in head coach Jack Del Rio, entering his 3rd season at the helm. Del Rio's first season was certainly an improvement over the previous 3 win campaign that saw Dennis Allen canned. The 5 win improvement in 2016 definitely has Rayduh fans salivating.
And of course, rising QB David Carr is also a big key to the rampant optimism of Rayduhhh Nation. Already a 2 time pro-bowler in his 4th NFL season, Carr has gotten better every year and put up impressive #'s in 2016, completing 63% of his passes for nearly 4000 yards, 28 touchdowns, and a paltry 6 interceptions.
Rayduh's fans believe, and their thoughts on this Sunday night's clash with the 1-1 Redskins at Fed Ex Field reflect their conviction.
Most Las Vegas…errr… Oakland fans oozed certainty about their team's chances against the B&G.
DarkMystique said:We're 2-0 vs the spread this year, I think the raiders will be 3-0 after this game.
r8rfox said:I smell 3-0 coming.. The foreskins don't scare me at all. Reed is out, their RB corp is banged up and Cousins has played sub par football thus far. We are clicking pretty well right now. Almost at mid-season form. Lets prep, do our job, and win another one... One game at a time! GO RAIDERS!!
mstrbass2000 said:We should win this game but we must control their running attack, expect another huge game from crabtree as josh norman will be on cooper.
APROVO said:we should dominate the redskins. we win 31 – 17
Rebellion said:I say we cover the spread easily by double digits.
mstrbass2000 said:outside of josh norman they got shit in the secondary, watch crabs, cooks, seth and cpat go off
There was lots of snarky reaction in response to this Zach Brown tweet
APROVO said:I hope our Raiders make this guy put on a ****en clown suit on Sunday
reapersgt said:I think we run the ball 38 times for well over 200 yards. Carr barely throws and we win 27-17. Cousins still doesn't get int a rhythm but TP makes a couple big plays. To me this game has "grind it" offense written all over. ML has his legs now after being out for a year.
r8rfox said:Put that bitch on roller skates this Sunday.
rawhead said:Dare the Raiders to pass? Sounds like he doesn't want to get his ass run over by Lynch
vioraider said:Pretty ballsy considering that the pass defense there is shaky at best... guess we'll see Sunday night
This guy seems to view Sunday's game a lot like our own DixieFlatline in his Blognostication entry
RunOverByHubbard said:Cousins is off to a slow start and some are thinking that he is due to break out of it. I think he will play better this week, leading to a high scoring game. The Redskins are very good against the run, giving up only 77 yards per game. But, that is over just two games. I see the Raiders establishing the pass, then running more. They will acheive over 100 yards between the three backs.
Raiders are a team now ready for prime time TV games. They will prevail:
Raiders 34, Redskins 27
Chucker said:After watching how valuable Garcon was last night for the Niners I wonder if Cousins' slow start might be related to his loss. I still think they have a good offense but we have more impact defenders than we've had in what seems like forever. And our offense really doesn't need a comment.
Raiders 34, Snyders 24
Interesting take – but the #'s don't support that suggestion Chuck
University Raider said:A game we should win. Defensively they seem to have decent numbers, but I'm not worried about our O scoring. Although they revamped their WRs, Cousins is the best QB we've faced so far, they have a solid TE and a good group of RBs, so this should be a good test for our D. Like someone mentioned above, our D seems to have the most trouble with covering RBs out of the backfield and TEs...I would add shallow crossing routes (like NO or NE like), but it doesn't seem like we've faced a team that likes to run those plays yet.
Conley looks promising, which is great news for the secondary though!
speedkills21 said:yeah the skins looks no where as explosive this year, Cousins isnt clicking with their new WRs and they reverted to a power run game in the rams game. Most skins fans are saying Pryor and Crowder look like shit
I'd say he got that ½ right – we don't look ‘explosive' so far. But Crowder ‘looking like shit'? Haven't heard anyone make that claim.
Finding anything remotely pessimistic posted by a Rayduhs fan was a significant challenge. At best, I'd characterize a few of them as ‘mildly nervous' or giving ‘grudging respect' to the Skins capabilities.
RunOverByHubbard said:The Redskins ran all over the Rams. Our run defense better be ready.
signal said:Raiders better not look past Washington to Denver or they will lose this next game. Del Rio has to really stress that THIS game is the one that everyone needs to be focused on because Washington is going to be revved up to get their first win at home. They lost their opener at home and will be looking to rectify that by beating the Raiders.
In the absence of actual pessimism, there were a handful of fans who expressed a modicum of uncertainty about Sunday night's outcome.
jgrilldss said:Are we sure that's going to be the matchup? I'd almost think they may put Norman on Crabtree and double up on Cooper and see how that works. Either way, I think Cook may have to come up big in this game and I agree the running game will be huge.
Who is the Skins other CB?
I'm also interested to see if Pryor gets untracked against his old team. Have a feeling it's going to be a hell of a game, and break up the snore-fests we've been privledged to on SNF this yr.
SuperRaider said:I don't know, it a road game....think it be a close game
Attyla said:This is no fluff game....they have Pryor. Can we win, can we contain Pryor, is there a SPARQ score big enough to contain this game?
kramNAVILLUS said:The NFC East seems weaker than they were talked up to be (or the AFC West is that much better than everyone thought, which was still one of the best), so I'm expecting a win and ideally a convincing win.
For being known as a passing team, the Redskins seem underwhelming when considering offensive threats. The only one that worries me is Thompson out of the backfield. Defending a pass catching RB always seems to be an achilles heel of the Raiders defense.
Raider87 said:Looks like the Vegas books have us favored by about 3 points. The Skins do scare me some, Cousins isn't great, but has put up some big numbers at times, seems to be off to a slow start this year. Potential shootout type game.
HesterLayes_37 said:Not a bad squad.Have some nice weapons (Davis,Reed,Pryor) and a stud LT. We will have to play better than we did in spurts against the Jets
NoThanksSir said:I am always worried about travelling east. The silver lining is that a good running game usually travels well. We currently are the 5th best rushing team in the league.
Just one problem with that little nugget NoThanksSir (thanks btw!)… The Redskins have the 4th ranked rushing attack in the NFL, averaging almost 150 yds/game on the ground, and have the 9th ranked rushing D, allowing a stingy 77.5 yds rushing/game. The Rayduhs rushing D is ranked 19th, allowing over 110 yds rushing/game.
There are always a few refreshingly smart fans to be found, folks who'd fit in fine on BGO that are capable of rooting for their team but also able to keep it real…
Champion316 said:Whoever matches up with Norman will be shut down. I hope I'm proven wrong but I just don't see our WR's beating Norman. On the other hand we have more weapons on offense that they will not be able to match up with. Carr will do what needs to be done to win this game and knowing Carr he will still like to test Norman because that's who Carr is.
Hawaiian Raider said:We should win this game. It's a game that I counted as a win when guessing at the record. But it's the NFL. Anything can happen.
And a special shout out to KC Raider, who really took the time to post a realistic, in-depth (albeit it optimistic) take on Sunday night's game.
KC Raider said:Watched their first two games and here are a few things I noticed from the Redskins game against the Rams.
They are committed to the run. They desire to be balanced and it was especially evident against the Rams. I believe they might have had 100 yards rushing in the first half while the RB Kelly (20) was still in. He latter got hurt. In the second half they got away form it for a brief time but then continued even though their backup wasn't as effective. They were averaging over 6 yards a carrier in the first half at one point.
There OL is legit. One of the better units in the NFL especially with their LT. Mack will face Moses however and should be able to have a good game. Their guards look especially adept at opening running lanes. But aside from Williams the Rams were able to pressure Cousins all day. Of course they do have a good DL.
Bottom line, they will try to establish the run on us period. We need to weather the storm. Joseph will be especially important as the 8th man in the box. The interior of the Raiders DL will have to be stout because they like to run it right at you and punch you in the mouth. They are generally consistent about running the ball and don't get easily persuaded to do otherwise even when it's only picking up 3 yards a carry. They know if they lean on a DL long enough come 3rd and fourth quarter things will open up.
Chris Thompson (25) is probably their biggest threat. He is like a poor man's T. Hill, only he plays more form the RB position. He catches a ton out of the backfield and scares the hell out of me against LB's. He was wide open and overthrown and dropped another pass or he would have had even more yards against the Rams. Gonna be a big time chess piece and a target we can't let get loose. We have to have him on the ground on first contact. I would say he will be our biggest challenge with the TE likely out or at least largely ineffective due to injury. Maybe a young Charlie Garner is a better comparison.
TE is likely out this game or ate least probably won't play much but they still have Vernon Davis and he's is still quick enough to give our LB's trouble. So this will be a test as well.
Their defense isn't bad. Their DL especially seemed to be pressuring Goff all day. Up the middle as well. Doubt they will get as much pressure on Carr but they are not slouches.
#24 , Norman is a stud and he will seek to get in Cooper's or however he is guarding head by being physical. He will try to beat the hell out of whoever he plays. Time for Amari to show up and prove he has gotten stronger if he faces him. Likely he stays on the offenses right side though and is on Crabs most the game. He can play in the slot sometimes. Honestly it's probably better for us if he face Crabs. Crabs can battle and won't back down. Norman seems like the very type of corner that gets in Amari's head with physicality and causes him to have a bad game. AKA, Pac Man Jones.
Kicker missed a FG against Ram's so special teams might come into play.
Bottom line we will have to stop the run but I don't think they can hang even if they are able to run decent. Cousins did not impress me against the Rams. He looked erratic and out of sync. Of course it is hard when you two WR's are being out played by a 3rd down back. But I'm expecting us to get at least one turnover as a pick. We should win if we handle our business and simply tackle well.
In the ‘Just Plain Dumb' category, a couple of posts jumped out at me…
Twoutrally said:Pryor will be pumped for this game. Put Amerson on him.
R8RMick said:Actually I think Cousins has played like crap, and their running game has been hurt with injuries. Just need to play our game, stick to Del Rio's process of recovery and preparation. The NFC East is overrated and going to take an ass focking from the AFC West.
Some fans self-identify their dumb with punctuation challenges. Speedkills punctuation, on the hole, is not ver good. Just sayin'…
speedkills said:problem is their pass d as a hole is not ver good its like 28th or something and they have one of the worst yards per attempts allowed at 7.8 we should really gut their D,
Not to be outdone, R8RMick is just chock full of genius.
R8RMick said:I think if Washington was in our division they'd finish in fifth place..
One word. Chargers.
And it's important to find humor in life. Cruising NFL fan forums is always good for some laughs…
I'm gonna clap dude, cause yer just plain funny.

I think he meant Dudley?
So there you have it folks, a peek behind the curtain in enemy territory. Rayduhs fans are certain, Redskins fans are nervous, and all that remains is Sunday night.
We shall see what we shall see.
Hail.
