Free Agency, The Mock Drafts, 2017 (Continual Updates)
Greetings from BBQ to all in BGO land. Are you ready for fall to arrive with cooler weather and plenty of football? Before you know it training camp will be here and then a new season will unfold.
The 2017 offseason is in its final weeks and soon the Redskins will have a roster of fifty-three players and ten practice squad members.
We said a couple months ago that another 2018 mock would come if a new contract for Kirk Cousins was produced, but that did not happen. However, the dynamics have changed and Cousins is very unlikely to be here after 2017. With that in mind, we will still have a second 2018 mock today. Trying to anticipate many months in advance what the Redskins will do in that draft is certainly challenging. However, we will try to anticipate some circumstances and put forth our predictions.
Let’s get right to it.
Round One: Jarrett Stidham, QB, Auburn
The Redskins reluctantly move on from Kirk Cousins and find their signal caller of the future.
Round Two: Deon Cain, WR, Clemson
This highly underrated receiver has great speed and is a very reliable target. Easily averages more than fifteen yards a catch.
Round Three: Duke Ejiofor, DE, Wake Forest
The Redskins learned that picking a solid defensive end in the draft is a good thing.
Round Four: Wilson Bell, G, Florida St.
The 2018 class for guards is deep and plentiful. Bell is huge, strong, and powerful.
Round Five: Micah Kiser, ILB, Virginia
The Redskins venture down the road and find a good inside linebacker who can also play special teams.
Round Six: Kahlil McKenzie Jr., DT, Tennessee
While it is nice to have some great defensive ends, the front office finally realizes that having good, big bodies in the middle is important too.
Round Seven: Davin Bellamy, OLB, Georgia
He would be a project at edge and would likely contribute on special teams.
During the bye week this fall, we will have another mock. This list will change drastically by next winter. Or will it? Feel free to share your thoughts or post a 2018 mock. On to training camp.
See you as we go along.
Hail To The Redskins!
