Default Quarterback Kirk Cousins Named NFC Offensive Player of the Month

    For Immediate Release
    December 1, 2016

    QUARTERBACK KIRK COUSINS NAMED
NFC OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE MONTH

LOUDOUN COUNTY, Va. – The National Football League announced today that Washington Redskins quarterback Kirk Cousins has been named the NFC Offensive Player of the Month for November.

In three games in the month of November, Cousins completed 84-of-116 passes (72.4 percent) for 1,086 yards with eight touchdowns and no interceptions for a passer rating of 124.4. His 362.0 passing yards per game led all NFL quarterbacks in the month of November.

The Player of the Month honor is the second of Cousins’ career, joining his selection in December 2015. He joins linebacker Wilber Marshall – who earned NFC Defensive Player of the Month honors in October 1991 and October 1992 – as the only players in team history to win multiple Player of the Month awards.

Cousins is the second member of the Redskins to earn Player of the Month honors this season, as kicker Dustin Hopkins won NFC Special Teams Player of the Month in September. The selections mark the first time the Redskins have had multiple players collect a Player of the Month award in a single season since Marshall (October) and wide receiver Gary Clark (November) both took home monthly honors in 1991.

Members of the Redskins have accounted for 15 Player of the Month awards all-time, including seven Offensive Player of the Month honors. Former offensive winners from the Redskins include Cousins (December 2015), running back Clinton Portis (October 2008), quarterback Todd Collins (December 2007), running back Terry Allen (October 1996), Clark (November 1991) and running back Earnest Byner (December 1990).

Cha Ching! He also made Kurt Warner top five on NFL Network. I respect his picks.

Now time to run the table.

As loud as he told our GM... how you like me now? We really heard him quote a phrase from Jerry Maguire, "show me the money"

Just think how much better Cousins' stats would look if the defense ever set up the offense with a short field and some easy chances to score points.

Instead, we have to continue to drive 70-80 yards every time we want to put 3 or 7 points on the board.

we'd still have the best QB in the league... AND those 70-80 yard drives look good and fuel our fire

Some more of those 'hollow stats'

107.7: Kirk Cousins' passer rating since Week 9 of last season. That's second-best in the NFL. During the 20-game stretch, the Washington Redskins quarterback has completed 69.4 percent of his passes (third), averaged 8.38 yards per attempt (first) and thrown 40 touchdowns against 10 interceptions. In the past three games, Cousins has completed 72.4 percent of his passes, thrown for 1,086 yards and totaled eight touchdowns without an interception. If the season ended today, the Redskins would be the No. 6 seed in the NFC. They are 2.5-point underdogs in Arizona on Sunday.
