it's going to be a long way back for Sullivan who suffered a major injury. The Vikings wouldn't have given up on him unless he was far below 100% back in August.

That said, it appears Spencer Long is going to remain the starter at center and Sullivan will be given time to work in as the backup and go from there.

Don't have a problem with that.

At this point, I think the 31 year old Lichtensteiger has shown that he has reached the point in his career where he is going to start sustaining regular injuries from all the pounding he has taken in the NFL over 7-8 seasons.

Because of his lack of size, Lichtensteiger has to be close to 100% out there to be effective. He simply doesn't have the size and strength to continue playing with injuries the way Trent Williams can.

So, maybe Arie goes in at LG and Painter is the Guard backup? Provided Arie is good to go, obviously. Has Lauvao been ruled out or is he still day to day?
I think that they're better off letting Long in at Center as much as possible as long as he isn't really failing at it. They either have a long term Center on the roster or they don't. Best to find out sooner than later.

The article said John was being brought in to start but that's maybe the press being premature. I don't know if Sullivan is hurt but he probably not in ideal football shape and won't know the system. They brought in a vet Center last year later in the season and he never played for whatever reason so no guarantee Sullivan sees a lot of playing time if Long is OK.
