TV Show Discussion Thread

Catching up on "The Good Place" by the folks who did The Office and Parks and Rec - pretty great show with ethical and moral dilemmas that make it even better. Really enjoying it.

Eh, NBC I think. We stream it on Netflix and will pick up season 2 on Hulu shortly.

Gotcha.

Speaking of Netflix ya gotta give ‘Slasher' a go. Plot twists galore!

Ok so I FINALLY ditched the shittiest state ran cable company on earth (GCI), & upgraded to streaming tv.

We're now owners of a ROKU system and could not be happier with the product. It's like 40% cheaper to boot.

Apparently I've been watching television like an Amish for years and will never go back to that lifestyle!!!!

If you're considering jettisoning your cable company Roku is worth a look.

If I wanted to watch NFL, I would think about the one cable station that Australia has. However, we do get at least three games per week on FTA so I don't bother.

Speaking of cable, I can't justify the price for constantly repeated programing and ads. I thought ads were FTA only, and the increased subs is supposedly for up-to-date content, so why the repeats and ads? (I don't expect anyone here to answer that!)

I get my TV from the internet. I download the latest episodes within 24 hours of it being shown in the US, whereas in Australia, it could take weeks, sometimes months, for an episode to be shown or a program to premiere. For example, The Good Doctor here is episode 2 whereas I have downloaded episode 6. I can also download programs from the UK which will never be shown here.

For those of you with Netflix and want to watch a good movie with a new plot give "What Happened to Monday" a go. Only notable stars are William Dafoe, Nomi Rapace & Glenn Close.

Its set in 2040 something and the earth's resources have been so abused that every family on the planet is under a 1 child only policy. A set of septuplets who've been hidden all their life manage to make it work under a weekly schedule.

Nomi plays all 7 ridiculously well, and the special effects\editing are phenomenal! WATCH IT!!!!

I got trapped in the doldrums that is Walking Dead during my recovery from achilles surgery. This show is typical Hollywood puff and completely predictable. Early on there were some surprises, but it soon became obvious that the cliff hangers were easy to figure out.

I will continue to watch because it is mildly entertaining, and of course I gotta know what happens next, but I am not wow'ed by this show and can only wonder how it became the most profitable show in TV history...except for the 28 minutes of commercials with 43 minutes of actual show content. Thank goodness for DVR.

I didn't know you went on IR.

I agree on WD. I just don't get it.

I'm guessing you don't get local/network channels ? Because I saw you were relying on box scores for Thursday's game, which was on NBC.

I've really enjoyed WD up until the last season and a half. I know they are following the comic, but parts of this story line have gone on too long and this season seems really haphazard.

Complete tear of the achilles, Chris...was completely down for 8 weeks. In week 11 now, the walking boot is off and I am walking very gingerly.

You all know I am no fan of RG3, but for that cat to come back from his achilles tear with bone damage in the short period of time he did, is simply amazing. Kudos to that kid for his physical ability.

Now, back to TV...

There are no series airing right now that I am in love with. Not even sure what is up next...looking for the new Goliath on Amazon. It wasn't a great series just very solid, but Billy Bob Thornton played the role wonderfully.

If you havn't seen Idiot Abroad, you must.

Yes...good stuff, but it got old for me after a while. I did envy the places travelled. Who wouldn't want to go all over the world like that?

EL- Did you watch Stranger Things 2 and Ozark?

Yeah, I liked season 2 of Stranger Things better than season 1. Had no idea which direction they'd go, and was pleasantly surprised.

And Ozark was good. I like Bateman, and he did a very solid job. I just find the premise that he could actually launder 50 million in that region, a little far-fetched. But if he can actually fulfill his plan, there is no greater laundromat for cash than a casino.

Nope, no more local stuff but can stream most movies & series. Alaska's sole cable company makes Hitler seem like a swell guy.

But yeah I'm going by box scores and what you guys lay out in the game threads.

So, I just binged watch the limited series (i.e. miniseries) Godless on Netflix. Absolutely loved it. Thought it was the classic western miniseries and made me think of Lonesome Dove.

Also watched the original movie Bright. I know it got panned by the critics, but I really liked it.

I just finished binge watching Wolf Creek 2. A series based on the 1st movie (there are 2 of those as well!), and quite honestly, they have quit after the first movie! 'Nuff said.
