REDSKINS SELECT LB SU’A CRAVENS, DB KENDALL FULLER
ON DAY 2 OF 2016 NFL DRAFT

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA – The Washington Redskins selected linebacker Su’a Cravens in the second round (No. 53 overall) and defensive back Kendall Fuller (No. 84 overall) in the third round of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Cravens (6-1, 226) played three seasons at Southern California from 2013-15, appearing in 40 games for the Trojans. During his collegiate career, he recorded 206 tackles (133 solo, 33.5 for loss), 16 pass breakups, 10.0 sacks, nine interceptions (one returned for a touchdown) and three forced fumbles.

Last season, Cravens transitioned to linebacker after playing his first two seasons at defensive back. He earned first-team All-Pac-12 honors as a linebacker in 2015 after accomplishing the feat a year earlier at defensive back.

Cravens, 20, attended Vista Murrieta H.S. in Murrieta, Calif., where he earned USA Today Defensive Player of the Year and Parade All-American honors after leading his team to a 13-1 record in his senior season. He was born July 7, 1995.

Fuller (5-11, 187) played three seasons at Virginia Tech from 2013-15, starting 28 of the 29 games in which he appeared. During his collegiate career, he compiled 119 tackles (73 solo, 8.0 for loss), 27 pass breakups, eight interceptions (one returned for a touchdown), two forced fumbles and two fumbles recovered.

As a sophomore in 2014, Fuller earned second-team All-American honors from the Football Writers Association of America and USA Today, among others. He was a first-team All-ACC selection that season, a year after earning the conference’s defensive rookie of the year award as a freshman in 2013.

Fuller, 21, attended Our Lady of Good Counsel in Olney, Md., where he was a Parade All-American and earned Gatorade Player of the Year honors for the state of Maryland. He was born Feb. 13, 1995.

If Fuller gets healthy, he seems like a steal.

But Cravens?

I think he's my early man crush.

Two other notes on Cravens:

1. He wears the number 21 for Sean Taylor.

“Well he’s definitely my all-time favorite safety, and those are big shoes to fill,” Cravens said on “Redskins Nation.” “So when I come into Washington, I’m ready to play and hopefully I can be half as good as that man.”

2. His NFL comparison is Troy Polamalu.

Yeah, read all that.

I was thinking our next London Fletcher.

Craven's ability to quickly diagnose plays, if what they say is true, makes up for lack of size, or speed.
If he can be a sure tackler, like London? Yeah baby!

One other note on Fuller:

He is the fourth Fuller brother to play in the NFL.

Imagine having four sons, and all four play in the NFL.

Fuller’s brother Kyle Fuller is a cornerback for the Bears and his brother Corey Fuller is a receiver for the Lions. The oldest brother, Vincent Fuller, is a former NFL player.
