  1. Why this forum is the best Redskins forum I have found.

For me it's the Skins, as it's been a lifelong thing. My PSU fanhood is actually a lot different, as I lived in Vienna until I was 5 and then moved to PA, bringing my father's Skins/VT fanhood with me. Before college, most of my PSU friends were Eagles fans and PSU football became negative by...
  2. Why this forum is the best Redskins forum I have found.

In a discussion with my college roommate about fanhood in general, the topic came around to my attachment to the Redskins. More specifically, the amount of time I spend browsing forums, discussing the Skins, attending games... "Well, you aren't a fan...you're a psycho!" he noted. I laughed...
  3. Capital Obsession: To The Draft!

 No hard feelings Elephant, just a misunderstanding -- thanks for being a good guy. I saw on ESPN's bottom line that Luck consulted with Peyton Manning and Bradford about the decision. Both apparently advised him to stay in school. That's coming from two #1 picks who both knew they'd...
  4. The Contrarian Viewpoint: Grossman can play

That is probably true, but honestly I don't think it will matter either way. This team is not going to be successful a year from now regardless of who is at QB. The 25th ranked scoring offense and 22nd ranked scoring defense have no chance of transforming that quickly. What's crazy is that the...
  5. Capital Obsession: To The Draft!

Hey, I think everything you're saying is fair. I had no issue with the questioning part of your post, more the statement about my priorities based on a major assumption. I don't know if I value money more than Luck or not because I'm not in his position. In all likelihood I'll never have...
  6. Capital Obsession: To The Draft!

This could win the annual Office Space "Jump to Conclusions" mat award. I kid, but that was one hell of a leap from "Sam Bradford got 50 million guaranteed" to "I suddenly understand the priorities of a person I don't know the first thing about." Really, my point was that fifty million dollars...
  7. Capital Obsession: To The Draft!

Last year Sam Bradford got 50 million guaranteed. Fifty. Million. Dollars.
  8. Capital Obsession: To The Draft!

By my list I meant what we need as a team, not necessarily what we should draft at 10. Though I personally hate the idea of drafting the third or fourth ranked QB at 10, obviously Shanny knows 1000x more than I do. (Though as I've mentioned, I am skeptical of his personnel decisions after he...
  9. The Contrarian Viewpoint: Grossman can play

This is true. But 4-12 teams should rarely look in any direction but 'rebuild.' Thus far I don't think the coaching staff has proven they're on board with that. I like our offensive philosophy but at the same time, it says a lot that St. Louis and Detroit are in better shape than the Skins.
  10. Capital Obsession: To The Draft!

Completely open to correction here but this draft does not seem top-heavy in OL prospects. That's not good news. DT Fairley looks solid but Auburn plays a 4-3, it seems like his best fit for us would be a 3-4 DE. Even if Peterson somehow dropped to us, I think going CB would be more of a...
  11. Capital Obsession: To The Draft!

KDawg, Have you watched film on Ponder? I think there's a significant dropoff after Luck and Gabbert as far as QBs go and would prefer we draft BPA at 10 or trade down. A team in the state that the Redskins are in should prefer to draft a "BPA" with elite potential as opposed to a QB with above...
  12. The Contrarian Viewpoint: Grossman can play

Agreed. While 4-12 was a low point, this isn't much better -- I'm currently defending Rex Grossman as the temporary starting QB for the Skins. Ugh.
  13. The Contrarian Viewpoint: Grossman can play

I've been against the trade from day 1 (to the point of an outburst of 'no!!' the moment I heard). Outside of the outrageous price we paid, his skill set and inconsistency don't seem to fit Shanahan's offense. Watching the Eagles over the years, I never came away thinking that McNabb was the...
  14. The Contrarian Viewpoint: Grossman can play

Well, if it's all about the QB... Common opponents: Rex-led Skins vs Cowboys: 30 points McNabb-led Skins vs Cowboys: 10 points (7 by def TD) Rex-led Skins vs Giants: 14 points McNabb-led Skins vs Giants: 7 points If we want to say Grossman is not a capable QB, sure seems like we'd have to...
  15. Redskins Insider: No surprises on Redskins' depth chart

Well, yes, adding an extra elite dimension to players who are already elite in the three categories I consider to be most important would certainly help, I'm not denying that. I still think Andre Johnson would be a great receiver at 6 feet tall. Steve Smith. DeSean Jackson. Santana Moss. Also...
  16. Key to the Game!

I hope he gets hit a lot. Every day closer to 9/12 I hate that star a little more. You're right about their line from last year vs. this year. Here's to our weaknesses being overblown and theirs being exposed :)
  17. Key to the Game!

This. I just got my tickets today. Sunday night? Dallas, a new era? Tailgating begins at 12?! I hope NOTHING is medium about Sunday.
  18. Key to the Game!

I'll go with a slightly modified option #1. Dallas knows its offensive line weaknesses and their offense is predicated on getting the ball out quickly. Makes sense, because (sadly) Romo is easily a top-5 QB in terms of getting the ball out. I don't think we'll sack him 4-5 times, but I do think...
  19. Redskins Insider: No surprises on Redskins' depth chart

Size does matter in the red zone, that is for sure, but I'd still rather have a player who is superior at the other 80% of the field. Admittedly that 20% is the most important, but offensive creativity can hopefully negate having small WRs in the red zone.... I'm optimistic with Kyle Shanahan...
  20. Redskins Insider: No surprises on Redskins' depth chart

I won't say I wanted Jackson, I was firmly on the OL/DL bandwagon, but preferred Jackson to any of the receivers. I'm no expert though, but prefer established players with more college success. It doesn't make sense to me to not draft a superior player because you have one similar to him...
