A Must Win! ........................That's right boys and girls, this Sunday's game at Fedex, against the F'ers, is a must win. I don't want to hear about how many more games there are. This is a must win for our boys. Let me explain.
Remaining 1 game behind the Eagles, 1 game ahead of the Cowboys, and 3 games ahead of the Giants, makes it a must win
Being the first game back after the bye, the first game of the season's second quarter, if you want to start out on the right foot, then it's a must win.
Since going 8-0 at home was thwarted by the Eagles, 7-1 at home becomes the new goal. Making this, a must win.
As a conference game, it can be a crucial tiebreaker down the line. Therefore, a must win.
Besides, as coach Edwards so eloquently said, “You play…to win…the game!â€
So as you see, like every other week of the season, this game, too, is a must win.
Now, we have a desperate, winless team coming to town. Lead by a rookie head coach that you know would love nothing better than to come in here and stick it to us. That can't happen. We may not be in the upper echelon of NFL teams, yet, but we're better than they are. We have a coaching advantage. We have a QB advantage. While our WR's have been less than inspiring, (to date) than we've all hoped, they're at least as good their guys. Of course, another former returns with the same intentions as his new coach. Garcon will be jacked. However, with Hoyer throwing to him, we should be able to keep him in check. We don't have a feature back, but if Gruden continues his dedication to the run game, we have the advantage here too. Fat Rob is solid, if healthy. And when Perine holds onto the friggin ball, he does appear to have all the tools to be solid as well. Would love to see Mack Brown get some touches. Chris Thompson alone is better than anything they've got. Vernon Davis fills in nicely for oft injured, Crystal Reed.
So, on offense, no need to overthink, or get cutesy. Pound the ball. And expect that our current starting QB will get his job done. Play action should be huge. He should own their defense. Hell, if our WR's show up, this should be a laugher by halftime.
On defense, we have to continue to play the run well. Containing Hoyer doesn't seem like too big a task. The Dline has been getting pretty good pressure. Even with just 4 rushers, at times. They need to keep it up. Allen & Ioanidis have played very well. I look for Allen to soon be next to uncontrollable for enemy offenses. Linebacking has been mostly above average. No time to cry about not having Norman. Or whoever, for that matter. It's next man up. I think we have a good stable of CB's. As long as DJ is directing traffic, we should be able to handle anything Kyle wants to try. The D played well in the first quarter of the season. They should continue to improve as the season goes along. Shut down their running game, and force Hoyer to beat you. Which should not be possible. Our offense should be able to control the clock, and score points. Keeping the defense fresh, and aggressive.
No doubt about it, this is a must win.
We're home. We're rested. We should be ready.
Even if it's only by a point, it is a must win. No excuses.
