2015 Week 17 - Cowboys v Redskins

Blognosticator - McD5

Happy New Year everyone! Week 17 is here, and there's a ton to look forward to as Redskins fans. Most importantly--we'll have a week 18 this year. And how sweet that is! I'm sure that I'm not the only one waiting for next Sunday to get here as quickly as possible.

But we have one more game left--a date with one of our most hated rivals. We'll be taking the show on the road this weekend to Dallas to hopefully put an exclamation point on what's been a great season for us, and an absolutely brutal season for them. Normally, I'd be incredibly fired up for this game. There's always something special in the air when we play Dallas. But this isn't the typical year. Their season is already over, and we're gearing up for what I pray is a series of several more games. This game honestly feels more like a preseason game at this point. So what can we look for this weekend as we get ready for the playoffs? I'll be focusing mainly on three things.

  1. The continued development of our younger players. This draft class has been fantastic. Scot has really brought in some special players, and I'm eager to see if yet another player can take a big step forward this weekend. Last weekend it was Preston Smith having his biggest game of the year. Who might it be this week?
  2. No injuries. This is paramount. A playoff run would be much less exciting without guys like Trent or Desean. We need to be healthy next week. Rest them.
  3. Colt McCoy. Wow, is he still on this team? I'm not sure if I've said that name more than two or three times all season. We can thank the develoment of Kirk Cousins for that, but this game--or at least the second half--should be an opportunity for McCoy to shine. This game may not mean a ton in the final standings, but I'm sure it means a lot to him. We've seen how far Cousins has come, so I'll be watching for some improvement from Colt. A strong showing by McCoy could answer some questions for Scot in regard to the upcoming draft. It's also important for McCoy to get some meaningful reps in case we ever need him to step in. All eyes will be on McCoy.

Final Prediction:

Redskins 38

Cowboys 17

Story of the game: Colt McCoy throws for 2 TDs in the second half and runs for another.
