The WFT remains lowest in Covid Vaccinations rates for its players

Sorry to jump in this late....

but to kind of continue this. I stated in another thread that it's clear the NFL is leaving the door open. They're publicizing a hard stance, but the door is WIDE open if you read between the lines. They've stated that

in that sentence they say 'resulting from it's non-vaccinated players/staff.' How in the world will they be able to prove it started from a non-vaccinated player/staff member? The union and players associate will be so far up the NFL's butt if a game check is lost, it wont be funny. Later in that sentence, it says 'cancellation or DELAY.' Another wide open window to avoid a cancellation at all costs. A cancelled game results in lost ticket sales, concessions, merchandise...

Another thing (from the other thread) is the fact that networks will revolt. If NBC loses the SNF game (the only game they carry each week), how happy will they be? MNF? TNF? Those are ratings gold mines because they have no competition of NFL on another network.

I am not seeing any wide open door. If anything, they will favor the teams with the higher vaccination rates.

Which means if we remain with the lowest level of vaccinated players, we run the absolute highest risk of being fined or having to forfeit games.

which is a bully tactic to get you to comply with what they want. That is completely illegal and should be fought every step of the way by everyone in this country.

Or, everyone in this country could get the overwhelmingly safe and effective vaccination that saves lives ... and, for those in the NFL, also reduces the risk of losing game checks. :)

Why would anyone put a vaccine in their body that isn't FDA approved and is for emergency use only. Especially when they are holding back the HCQ and other cures.. Thats right I said it . HCQ and other drugs cure this virus and they are holding from the American people. The Lancet report that they came out with that says HCQ kills people was proven fake and false and retracted. Why do you think Trump mentioned HCQ during the pandemic ,he knew it was a cure and wanted to see what the deep state would do.. These people are truly sick and I for one don't fall for any of this bullshit. I come to this website to engage in Redskin football talk and totally understand the point of this thread but I've had enough covid talk

Admittedly, I just don't get the people who argue against the vaccine. Sorry if this offends anyone.

I look at it this way... Take two people. Dress one of them in a body suit made of bulletproof armor (the vaccine), and make the other one stand there naked. Now give them both a gun (Covid, because both can be carriers) and let them take potshots at each other. Who dies first?
Sure, naked guy might get a lucky shot. Or the armor might have a chink in it somewhere... but it's not like the odds are anywhere close to even.

I also get where Rivera is coming from, and I didn't read any shaming into his statement of frustration personally. I think we see a man who put a lot on the line last year to help this team through a pretty rough spot. With all the crap that was crculating around us last year (the name changes, harassment lawsuits, etc) he worked to right the ship despite having to battle cancer at the same time. I think in his position I'd be more than a little pissed if I didn't see my 'team' returning the effort I put in last year.

Myself, I got the vaccine as soon as it was available. I'd have had it anyway, but I did it even more so for my brother and my father, who have both had cancer this year and are - like Rivera - immunocompromised. (My brother had skin cancer the same as Coach, and my dad has prostate/lung/spine cancer). The vaccine doesn't stop you from getting Covid, but from what I've read it drastically cuts down the chances for you to be a carrier. That was important to me to protect my family.

Wish I knew where the reluctance to take the vaccine comes from. I can only think that some of the players are young and fit, and because we didn't get any cases last year there's a sense of 'invulnerability' about them.
But we're seeing deaths here for young people who ARE super fit. Touch wood, I've not known anyone who died from it yet, but my brother had. He's fitness instructor and I know he's told me about at least two of his colleagues died from it n the early days.

Maybe it's a mindset difference due to age. I'm 50 this year, and if there are long term side effects then so be it. Maybe if I was 22 I'd have a different outlook. Maybe then I'd take my chances on surviving a bout of it (especially now hospitals are better equipped to handle it) and reject the vaccine.

Which of course then brings up the subject of 'Long-Covid'.

Let's say I'm Montez Sweat, and I get Covid and I beat it. What if I get long Covid?
The symptoms incldue fatigue, breathlessness, cognitive impairment, generalised pain, and mental health problems. That's a career killer right there. I'll probably never play again.

I guess every infectious disease MD in America is in on the conspiracy - holding back on your ‘cures’ for some mysterious purpose?

We don’t do politics on this board which you’ve been around long enough to know so suggest you refrain from dragging the conversation into that area.

Covid and the vaccine are all about politics what are you talking about ?? Its all become about politics!! and as far as your suggestion .. point taken !!!! see you around ...

Since the freshly leaked CDC data shows fully vaccinated people might spread the Delta variant at the same rate as unvaccinated people, why are we seeing players, coaches, a (dancing) team president, and team media members interacting with people unmasked?

Will that change today given the news?

Actually, there is nothing inherently political about it. I understand the urge to take a stand based on ones politics as far as the public good vs individual rights. The conversation has been fine so far. I get both vantage points and everyone is fine staying their viewpoint on how the NFL should handle things, as long as we leave politics out of it :)

It's all about to be a moot point if they kick lockdowns back in.... which is the word right now.

They need to get their acts together. Either the NFL views COVID as a big deal and coaches and front office people get with whatever the plan is. Or shut up about it.

I won’t be surprised if things are bad enough by the time the regular season gets here that we see a return of fan-less games. Between new strains (which right now, at least in my area, are only causing a small % of infections), people abandoning distancing and mask use, and the effect of vaccines wearing off with time, a big resurgence is happening and was pretty predictable…

It can’t help but remind me of the plethora of examples we have all seen of ‘rules for thee but not for me’ sop that our national ‘leaders’ have been exposed for.

I get that Rivera is concerned, he should be. He shouldn’t, however, be handling his daily media obligations unmasked.

Yep...right around the time the flu comes back. How not shocking.

Sorry, man. I know you are a big believer in this being a serious issue, but I don't share that with you. I've even had a friend die from complications due to covid and he wouldn't believe it was that, either.

This is a control grab. This is a group of people deciding what everyone must do or else they suffer and get bullied. I'm personally sick of it.

Then you have things like this. If he "tests positive" a day before the game and it's false...we still lose him for that week.

I don’t begrudge anyone their opinion brother. Mine is colored by seeing 500+ die from it where I work and how hard it has been on our staff.

I read somewhere yesterday that he is on the list because we was in contact with someone who tested positive.

I would imagine we all have been but just don’t know it. 😉

The false positives are what bothers me. By this point, we shouldn’t have false positives. I get it’s not an exact science, but testing heathy people will cause that though. I’m not saying I know the answer, it just bugs me that healthy people are getting tested with a test that produces false positives.

The WFT is not in the business of caring about users on forums. They are in the business of the NFL. The NFL imposes the rules, which all 32 teams adhere to.

I think it’s worth acknowledging, this is a very tough scenario to navigate - both for our govt and business owners. I’m not sure there has ever been a more ‘damned if you do’ and ‘damned if you don’t’ dilemma.
