I don't think this takes him selling off the table. In fact my gut (which very well could be wrong) wonders if the deal is already agreed upon in principle for him to sell. Snyder just asked for a debt waiver to push the debt to March of 2028. This got approved by the same governing body that is currently investigating HIM for misconduct. The way I see it there are 3 ways this thing goes.

Option 1... the option we all fear. He some how has gotten through this whole thing unscathed and will pay the fine that is referenced in the very last sentence of the PFT article.

Option 2... Snyder has agreed to sell the team already and bow out as quietly as possible. The NFL and Snyder have already reviewed the report and both ultimately understand that the only dignified result is the sale of the team. They've agreed in principle with Bezos for the sale of the team and THAT is why, not only did the NFL Financial Committee agree to front Snyder the money to make it happen, but Snyder agreed to put the past in the past with the minority owners and move on with the buyout. Snyder literally sued season ticket holders and Newspaper publications.... meanwhile not only is he willing to just let go of a fight with minority owners, but he's gonna hand them $900 million in the process.

Option 3 (What I've been predicting since the beginning of this)... The NFL KNOWS Snyder is screwed in all of this. He gets full ownership leveraging the only asset he's connected to against a loan he doesn't have the money to pay back. Not only that but the primary sponsor's CEO is one of those people he's in the process of buying out. He now is sole owner of a team with a stadium that very likely does not have a name attached to it. The next step is for the same sponsors that attacked the team for the name, to attack the team for Snyder and his treatment of women. The court of public opinion can be one that can quickly force a hand. If sponsors start pulling, there is no way he can afford to pay the bills by himself.... especially when he's 100% in control.

I hope like hell you are right but my cynical self believes it is surely option 1.

Did I see only $800 million for 40% of the team? That seems like a low valuation...

Might be low due to the contract signed when the shares were issued that they could only accrue at a certain pace .

No way I see this as a means for getting Dan to sell, if I'm the other NFL owners I don't think I'd want any of my owner partners to have given out 40% to investors. We know the NFL likes to keep it's members in check without side investors leaking to the media and causing headaches.

As I understand it, those shares are of less value due to the total lack of voting rights that go with them. The holders of those shares had literally no say in what happened with the team.

which is why I don't see this move as Dan getting 'more power.' His power has not changed, only his financial responsibility

if/when it goes through it will just be him and his family with all the shares, right?

pretty much an ideal situation for him.

til he has to build a new stadium with no sponsor and the court of public opinion roasts him for his mistreatment of women... If Nike / CocaCola / whoever decide to press the issue with Snyder the same way they did with the name... he's got nowhere to hide anymore.

That is true. But, then the threat of him taking the team to a different city comes in to play.

would that be so bad? If he moves the team, it's a lock there is a new one here in less than 5 years...

That would be just our Redskins fan luck though... finally looking at something to build toward and the team gets moved.

If nothing else, he is one crafty sob.
Imagine if put those skills to use in positive ways.

I don't know if its a lock.

Cleveland took a long time
San Diego still doesnt have a team
Houston took a long time

I am not sure I stick around, either. The name leaves, and then the actual team itself leaves? Man...I am not even sure who I would be rooting for. Even the players are different.

that's fair, but when Snyder bought this franchise he payed just over $800 mil... he just bought out his minority owners for the same amount while being a terrible business man. Washington Football is a money maker...

I agree it would be tough to stick around. I don't think that's what ultimately happens but you raise a very valid point. This does make it a lot easier to move the team.

I’m not sure what would motivate Snyder to move the team? Me? If that was the price of ridding us if Snyder forever, I’d weather it.

I don’t see that as a very likely result.
