The Offense!

Yeah it's possible, but if Haskins puts it out at the numbers it's not getting picked off... and Haskins absolutely has the arm to do it.

I know there are analytics but it's not the standard. When you look at a QB stat line without digging a lot deeper into the abyss, it still attributes all INTs to QBs

He may have the arm, but that doesn’t make it the right throw, particularly not for a guy with such limited experience, in a new offense, who had no preseason. I don’t think you can knock him for that one, particularly not so e

I dont agree. Thats a pretty standard throw, especially with a clean pocket. Mclaurin has a clear path to the sideline (presumably) without a defender near him. The upfield defender is 7 yards away... that's WIDE open in regards to NFL windows. The trailing defender does not undercut an outside pass, if it's short or inside then that's a problem. The lane is clear, the pocket is clean. Mclaurin has run the route to the first down market.

I am very much in the camp of being patient, but still want to look at the good as well as the bad. This is a missed play. Even throwing it 8 yards outside and it being incomplete is better than taking a sack when you have a guy this open.

This is not good at all.... even if it is Aaron Donald.

but still... it's Aaron Donald....

A big arm doesn’t mean anything without fundamentals and natural instinct for the game.

Bust quarterbacks in the past like Dan McGwire and Ryan Leaf we’re tall passers with strong arms but neither had a feel for the complexities of the pro game.

These were players that looked lost and could never seem to anticipate the flow of play in a game.

Josh Rosen is a more recent guy who just can’t handle what it takes to process information on the field and make the right decisions with the speed of the pro game.

And he had the benefit of playing for a major program with experience at UCLA.

Parcells once said the biggest mistake people in the league make is to draft QBs high in Round 1 when they have limited college experience.

His argument was a single season starting at that level or being in an offense that was over-simplified meant the player in most cases would not have the the ability to adapt to what he saw in the NFL.

Bill Parcells has several criteria for drafting QB's. One was to be at least a 3 year starter. Then it was win at least 23 games. Below is the link to how the 2019 Draft Class QB's scored.

It’s a poor class.

Murray tilts the scales out of kilter with his uber athletic skills and the fact his coach installed the same offense he ran in college so the continuity was there.

Of the others some are very close on the scale. Jones’ completion percentage was 59.9 which is only .01 away from meeting the standard. He started the 30 games but played at a small school program for football at Duke so he didn’t win 23.

But in my mind he is very close.

I liked what I saw of Ryan Finley. He was an afterthought after Burrow joined the Bengals but I think he can play and may get a shot with another team over time.

I like Finley although I think a lot of talent assessors felt he doesn’t have an NFL caliber arm and is just okay in terms of accuracy. Might be fine for the kind of offense we will run, but I think we need to find a sure fire starter or we’re going to find ourselves still looking 3-4 years from now and will have wasted some productive years with the talent we do have on offense.

There is a shortage on attempts... I believe we only tried 4 times, and who knows how many attempts were foiled by the 400 sacks we gave up

this is gonna ruffle feathers.

I really wish we would kick some tires on Le'Veon Bell and see if he's still got it. He would instantly become the best RB on the roster and he fits the style Rivera and co. appear to be into. You can find ways to get him on the field while not taking away from Gibson, he's that versatile.

Sadiq Charles at left guard this week is being rumored. And Scherff back at RG. I am hoping things start to improve right away.

I’m anxious to see what a tweaked OL can do

Martin was a clear disappointment with his starters experience in a power conference coming in.

I really expected him to start early and be solid.

lets be honest with ourselves though: nobody is stopping Aaron Donald.

Nobody. That guy is a freaking beast. Wes Martin could have been in a Aston Martin drinking Remy Martin and would be destroyed.

Last year or year before (correct me ST)

I liked when Trent was at LG and Nsheke was LT. It worked and was VERY powerful.
