The Bombshell

First ... that the internet got itself into a tizzy speculating about what the Post story could be has nothing to do with the reactions posted to what it actually turned out to be by members on the site. Let's stop conflating the two.

Second, when the owner/operators of the board remove a member, it's almost never based solely on what is posted publicly. I'd like to think we've earned the benefit of the doubt on that score, but if not, there it is.

So, you'd be cool with getting rid of the cheerleaders, league wide, since they are "sexualized" and "objectified" and the entire concept is outdated in this enlightened world, correct?

Yes. I would be totally cool with that. In fact, I said as much when the Cheerleader Scandal broke a few years ago.

When JKC was the owner our cheerleaders wore one-piece outfits like they were in high school. The sexy little chicks in skimpy outfits shaking thier butts? That was a Dallas Cowboys thing, not ours, and Dan Snyder fell all over himself to copy them. There's no reason for cheerleaders like that to be a thing in the NFL.

Put in a dance team if you want, like what the Wizards have, with men and women doing badass routines.

I remember when they said they had them stand in front of the opponents tunnel and "bend over" to distract them, I thought "that is pretty fucking degrading". I love women as much as the next person, but that is just PG porn.

The cheerleader thing always bugged me. We all know why they are there and it’s not to lead cheers. That stops in college. I don’t know how in 2020 any team has cheerleaders in the NFL.

kel,

You know what would change it? An WNBA team trotting out an all-male cheerleading squad in Chippendale-like outfits.

You know Ryman, I really don’t have a problem with you expressing that. I try to be reasonable and fair. Maybe I’m not always. But some things, as both Sarge and Al would be the first to say, are not tolerable or acceptable. You don’t know all the facts nor do you need to. So I’ll leave it at that.

I'll add one thing on this - when we take an action like this we are unanimous in the decision to do it. It's not a solo thing done by one of us.

I can

This is an image that will be difficult to put out of my mind this weekend.

There is a LOT of posting here suggesting this is a league-wide problem, and therefore Dan is being picked on unfairly.

You know what? That's probably true. This is what I think about that:

1) I don't care. Some people get away with murder. That doesn't mean we don't prosecute a murderer when we catch one. The league, the sponsors, the fans ... they can go after Snyder with a clear conscience, no matter what anyone else has done. If it's wrong it's wrong.

2) Burn the whole damn league to the ground for this if that's what it takes. If this is the tip of a league-wide iceberg, I am FINE bringing justice to whole damn lot of them. The NFL under, especially under Goodell, is extremely arbitrary with its discipline. The Ray Rice incident showed us that the NFL doesn't care about injustice so long as nobody knows about it. If this is an opportunity to blow the whole thing open, let's do it. This crap needs to end. Now.

Lastly, and I'm not saying this to be judgey towards anyone here ... really ... but "what if it were your daughter" should not matter at ALL. There's right and there's wrong and we ALL know, we KNOW, what the difference is. We shouldn't have to project our feelings on to family members to find empathy. I think that is part of the problem too. We are all human beings. We all want to be treated with respect and dignity. This shouldn't be a grand mystery. Let's all do that, even those of us who only have sons. :)

Lastly lastly, Special K's post ... and some of the responses afterwards ... just killed me. How can anyone read what she wrote and then say "yeah, but my politics". Anyone who knows SK knows she's not some bleeding heart liberal. This isn't about politics at all. It's just right and wrong. Her perspective is fairly unique on this board. I would have hoped for more respect for it.

This team ... this league ... they get nothing from me until I see MAJOR changes happen. From here on out my only connection to the NFL is this board right here. I'm not going to let this team run by horrible people in a league run by horrible people rob me of you guys. But I am done.

I think people take their opinions and the opinions of others a bit too seriously... Let this play out a week at least before going completely insane.

Should people take this post seriously?

I think people also disregard things when they are serious and use sarcasm/jokes as a way to disguise that.

I haven't seen one person say it is 100% real. but, most of us believe there is truth to it. We've seen the stories several times over the years. It adds up.

I believe it. 100%.

The team statement was pathetic. An absolute joke.

The awful truth is there are likely other incidents of equal or even worse content that either witnesses didn’t feel comfortable revealing or the Post couldn’t fully corroborate.
